Stress Management

A workshop was organized by the trainers from Art of Living on September 02, 2013 at the Seminar Hall at DSBA on ‘Stress Management. ‘Its mission was to help students get rid of stress and find inner peace with the help of Yoga and meditation. In a fast paced age where stress and depression are widespread, the toll of these on physical and mental health can be extremely high.

According to the trainers the practice of yoga “enhances flexibility, tones the muscles, releases tension and improves mood.” “If yoga is practiced regularly it can have an enormous impact on one’s stress levels. Students should not be discouraged if they struggle with certain poses at first because their flexibility and strength will improve through continuous practice. People practicing yoga must listen to their body and not force themselves into any yoga position or pose that feels unnatural. This could lead to serious injury, which would inevitably result in added stress and tension.”

They also emphasized that Relaxation technique, Meditation, Progressive relaxation, Transcendental meditation, and faith-based meditation techniques can help relieve stress. Specific breathing techniques can be done for relaxation, concentration, and for control over emotions.

After attending the workshop students felt it had made them feel charged, exhilarated and it was an embodiment of peace that they had experienced.
