International Art of Living Yes Program at DSBA

Art of Living ‘Yes Program’ is students and young professionals-oriented. It is a powerful life-skills program designed to accelerate personal all-round excellence.

It is a smooth blend of ancient wisdom, yoga, pranayama (breath control), meditation and the Sudarshan Kriya, fused with contemporary intellectual exchanges. The YES! Session ensures an energy boost that gives life a kick where it is most needed.

Yes Program is conducted at various premier institutions across the globe. It was conducted for the first year students on the following days at DSBA by Ms Upasana, a volunteer from International Art of Living Ashram. Dr Sandes, Principal DSBA also conducted some of the sessions:

I Semester BCom ‘A’ -4th to 6th August’16

I Semester BCom ‘B’-8th to 10th August’16

I Semester BBA & BCA -11th to 13th August’16

On the first day of the course the students were given a book and a pen and were told to jot down the things they think they need to control in their life esp. emotions / feelings along with what they think are their needs & responsibilities in life. Through the games played they learnt skills like the importance of listening before performing actions, time management and co-ordination.  The trainer also explained how opposite values complement each other, why not to point out others mistakes and also advised them not to be a football to others opinions.

The students then learnt the art of doing “Sudarshana kriya” and “Surya Namaskar” and learnt to have a control on their emotions .They played many games which helped them to learn how to cope with difficult situations. Next, the three types of pranayama and ujjayi breath was taught. Ms Upasana also taught the students techniques of facing a huge crowd and a big audience. She told them the secret of happiness which is more responsibilities and less needs whereas, the opposite in life often leads to a struggle. They were told not to fuss around blaming others instead look at their mistakes .Subsequently, concentration exercises were taught.

This was followed with the students being divided into different groups and for each and every group the students had to think of a unique name and cheer for them. Later, a video of Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Guruji giving his inspirational speeches was shown to all students.

On the last day of the course a competition was held called ‘Cooking without fire’ wherein the students were given 40 minutes to make healthy, light snacks / desserts .A condition was laid, everything that got prepared was without the use of fire .Ms Upasana, the respective class coordinators, HOD, Dean and the Principal tasted the sumptuous food made by the students.

‘Yes’ Program tremendously helped students as they realised that ‘Yes’ techniques helped them with sharp concentration, calm and focused mind, unwavering confidence, infused high energy levels. Sudarshan Kriya helps one to unclutter their mind by flushing out the emotional stress that gets picked up on a day-to-day basis. This also helps one to perceive things as they are and one intuitively makes the right decisions. ‘Youth Empowerment Skills’ are for life.
