20th August’16 -a day all the first year students waited for!

The first year students left no stones unturned to look their best and exhibit their talents. The new collegians now geared up for a new phase of their lives.

The programme which was conducted in the foyer of the M-Block was coordinated by the Cultural faculty coordinator Prof Crissy and student coordinators from the second year.

Ms D B Moksha and Vishesh Tiwari, II year BBA students were the emcees for the day. They ensured that the juniors felt welcomed, made sure that they brought happiness on the bright faces of the newcomers throughout. The programme began at 11 am and ended at 2 pm.

Dr [Brig] Sandes, Principal DSBA, Dr Veena, Dean DSBA and Prof Nikitha, HOD [UG] were present at the function.

The programme commenced with solo and group dances and rendering of melodious songs by the second and third year students.

The first year students also joined in by showcasing their fine talent in different styles of music and dance.

The highlight of the occasion was however the coveted titles of Mr & Ms Fresher. It wasn’t easy as the contestants had to go through gruelling three rounds with eliminations at the end of every round. The first round had contestants introducing themselves. In the second round they were given props & the contestants had to use them innovatively and entertain the audience. The final round was a question-answer session. The judges-Prof Pravesh Soti, Prof Kasthuri Gopal and Prof Meera Krishnan-asked questions to final contestants and based on their confidence, spontaneity, appropriateness and stage presence selected Ms Swathi [I Sem BBA] as Ms Fresher and Rohan [I Sem BCA] as Mr Fresher. The Principal put the sash for Mr Fresher and Prof Nikitha for Ms Fresher.

It was a laudable sight watching most of the youngsters excel in giving best performances on stage. The audience were enthralled by the grace, talent and virtuosity of the performances. The programme ended with an assortment of delicious snacks arranged by the seniors and super seniors for the fresher.

The Fresher’s party was remarkable, overwhelming and enjoyable and no doubt was an ultimate welcome given to the Freshers!
