Shramadaan – Awareness on Hygiene, Date-29th January 2016

Title: Swatch Bharath awareness, in and around Manasa Bhavan with public help.

 No. of participants: 50             

On 29th January 2016, after the flag hoisting and exercise the students were divided into two groups – and went to ‘Manasa Bhavan’ for shramadhan. Students gave an awareness session to the public about the importance of conversion of bio and wet waste segregation. Around 50 student volunteers took part in this activity conducted by DSBA NSS unit.

Title: Awareness session- HIV & AIDS

 No. of participants: 50 (DSBA NSS Students and students and faculty from invited institutions)  

Awareness session – “HIV& AIDS” 

 Dr. Shashidhar Chanappa a trained counsellor was the resource person, gave awareness talk about AIDS/HIV. He also specifically spoke about the image of mitigation on the impact of AIDS/HIV in the workplace, care and support of society for infected, elimination of stigma and discrimination of HIV infected at various levels of society. 

Participants were, DSBA NSS Students (50) and students and faculty from invited institutions. 

Mainstreaming Trans Gender – 30th January 2016

Title: Mainstreaming Trans Gender 

No. of participants: 50 

The Participants were from the invited institutions. Ms. Ranjitha a transgender created awareness among students and faculties on irony of transgender policies and services where their existence is not considered. The talk covered how gender non-conforming people bear the brunt of social and economic marginalisation.         

Problems related to their housing, job, mistreatment, access to health care were discussed. Around 50 students from other institution were part of this session.

A Session on Youth – Health – Science – 2nd February 2016

Title: A Session on youth- Health- science. 

No. of participants: 50

NSS volunteer started with an aerobics session instead of the regular exercises. This was followed by a Guest Lecture by Dr. C.R.Satya (friend of Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam) He shared his knowledge about “Youth for Science and Scientific Attitude”. Around 50 students were part of this activity. 

A Session on Indian Culture and Nationalism – 3rd February 2016 

Date: 3rd February 2016

Title: A Session on Indian culture and Nationalism. 

No. of participants: 50 

The seven-day program was concluded by a small cultural program by the volunteers and valedictory function was held and Dr Arathi (vibhu academy) was the chief guest. She spoke about patriotism and it was very encouraging talk by her, students felt proud to be an Indian.
