The events/activities conducted were as follows:

Advertisement of dead products

The reason a product is considered dead in the market is because it loses its relevance in the present day world. The biggest challenge then, is to market and advertise the product in such a manner that what is extraneous in the buyer’s mind now becomes essential for him/her!

It was a team event and each team consisted of four people. The challenge involved in this event was making the ‘irrelevant – relevant’. The participants picked topics -a product that is completely obsolete in the market- randomly and were given 10 minutes time to prepare an advertisement for the obsolete product and convince the judges in such a way that the dead/obsolete product can seem compellingly relevant in today’s market.

Cooking without fire

The highlight of the events on Day-2 was cooking without fire which turned out to be a great event for the students and the faculty as well. Students turned into small-time culinary experts and could actually give the master chefs a run for their money with dishes that were a pleasure to the taste buds. Students also sold their dishes thereby promoting the spirit of entrepreneurship, empowering them with a memorable learning experience.

The participants had to get the ingredients themselves, they were given an hours’ time to prepare their dishes after which the real-fun began. They priced their dishes according to the ingredients used and managed to sell all of it too. It was an extraordinary experience for the students; they got to feel and see the immense pressure and challenges faced by our food industry experts .This also gave them on-the hand experience, preparing them for any challenges they might face anytime in the future.

The teams were given a stack of newspapers and 1 ½ hours’ time to get the creative brains got to work. Dumb charades

It was an entertaining activity with a lot of twists.

Usually dumb charades is about movie /music but this time around the organisers changed the round and used names of entrepreneurs and companies.

Seven teams participated in this event. A participant from one team came up and enacted the entrepreneur / the company’s name / founders. The other teams had to understand the actions and find out what the name was.

Two rounds were conducted and a tie breaker for the runners up.

Round 1:

In this round the participants had to pick up a chit which contained the name of the companies .One had to enact and make co participants of his/her team understand ,through his/her actions ,so that they could guess the name of the company and accordingly score marks.

Selected teams were qualified for round 2.

DSBA‘s guest, Mr. Ivan from Switzerland observed the game and enacted it. Faculty present guessed the name of the company and he was really impressed with the game and the response.

Round 2:

This round was based on the names of the founders of the companies; the chits contained the company’s name and the participants had to guess the company and their founder’s names.

E.g.: Reliance - Dhirubhai Ambani.

This round was completely twisted and it was full of interaction .However, the real test was the communication skills between the team members, with the help of which they cracked this round.

In the final round, 2 teams ended up having similar scores and hence, a tie breaker was conducted. The winner team had to enact in this round and the teams that guessed it right won the runners-up title.

Winners: Sharad Joshi, Rishabh Surana, Rishab Jain and Sanith Varnekar [IV Semester BBM]

Exhibition

Exhibition was the last event of U2E. Three teams participated and they were given a stall each to exhibit their handicrafts. Students made and exhibited dream catchers, pen stands, and quill earrings.

The students learnt the art of pricing and marketing their products. Since they did it for the first time, they realised that it wasn’t easy to convince people to buy their handiwork. By the end of the day, all their efforts were paid off as they were able to sell all their stuff. The learning experience was immense.

Guess the product

Through this event the participants were tested on one of the most important skills required for a successful entrepreneur,

‘Attention to detail’- close attention to the most minute detail matters always.

There was a twist in the event. Earlier in the day the participants were told that this was an individual event. But, the participants where brought together as teams having 2 members each.

Round 1

The 1st round was a visual round where the participants were shown 50 products. The images of the products were blurred and displayed at a stretch. Now, the teams were supposed to identify the products and list them down in a time limit of two minutes. The teams with maximum right guesses qualified into the next round.

13 teams had participated, but at this stage eight teams qualified and made it to the second round .The remaining five teams were eliminated.

Round 2

In this round, 30 products were displayed. The qualified teams were supposed to memorize the products displayed. The teams which listed down the maximum number of products based on their memory went into the final round.

Now, out of eight teams, four teams were eliminated and remaining four teams moved into the final round.

Round 3-

In the final round, 30 logos were projected and the qualified teams were given a time limit of 5 seconds for recognizing the company logo and were supposed to list them down.

The team with the highest number of right answers became the winner.

Guest Lecture

Mr. Ivan Anastassov a foreign delegate from Switzerland addressed the gathering about how he became an entrepreneur while studying. He spoke to the students in particular about the importance of ‘thinking out of the box ‘if one wanted to be an entrepreneur. He even spoke on his journey from being a student to a successful entrepreneur.

Interaction with audience

Interaction with audience was conducted to know about the audience’s response and how well the audience was aware about the entrepreneurs.

During the interaction the organisers asked a few questions to the audience and their responses were good. One of them was ‘whether they were aware about start-ups.’ Many respondents were aware of it and some of them took flipkart as an example. A realization dawned  when one comprehended  that everyone is interested in ‘job giving’ rather than ‘job seeking’ because one  thinks that start-ups or being an entrepreneur is very important ,as that adds some value and responsibility of one towards society. The other question asked of the audience was ‘when were they satisfied.’ The response for this was whenever they felt that they were comfortable or the price for the product was reasonable. Most of the respondents mentioned that they were comfortable in doing their own business rather than working under someone.

International Lunch

This event was all about cultural exchange, wherein the delegates from other countries tasted Indian cuisine and they shared their experiences about how events were conducted in their homeland. At length they spoke about the different kinds of entrepreneurs in their countries, the difference in their attitudes, their nature, their way of working, their cultural traits, how different their culture was in comparison to India, the experiences they gained from the events they witnessed. Suggestions also came from their end about how the events can be conducted /organised in a much better way the next time around, as one must always follow an upward graph.

Name the Price

The event was the 3rd event on the third day of U2E, and it had 40 participants in all. The event was all about memory-testing and stress-handling capabilities. The candidates were given a list of 70 products along with their prices .The catch was that the participants had no clue that they were going to be split into a team of 4, and hence would be brought out of their comfort zone a bit. The key in such competition is total understanding and trust amongst the team-mates. All of these qualities shone brightly among the participants who were able to answer most of the product price related questions with relative ease.

The first round was a regular round in which all 10 teams were asked two questions each; the second round was the same, with the option of passing the question, the pass question carrying one mark with a maximum of two passes.

The third and the penultimate round was the negative marking round in which two questions were asked per team.

It was a good learning experience over-all to all the participants, as well as the co-ordinators.Winners: Bukhari Hassan, Neeraj Kumar [IV Semester BCA], Nishanth Naidu [II Semester MBA] and Naman [II Semester BBA]
