THE ACTIVITIES WERE HELD IN BNM DEGREE COLLEGE TO PROMOTE E-WEEK.

Collage

A technique of composing a work of art by pasting on a single surface various materials not normally associated with another, as newspaper clippings, part of photograph, and fragments of an envelope.

This art was conducted at BNM degree college as a part of E-week, the topic given was to represent one company and the company logo, wherein participants had to take one specific company and its logo and they had to collect varieties of products and information regarding that company through newspapers, printouts, photo clippings, pictures and had to paste it on a card board sheet.

Poster making

Poster making is an art in which a drawing is made that exhibits either a product or company details.

The poster making event was conducted in Ved Vigayana Maha Vidya Pith School which is located in Kanakapura road, Bangalore. Five coordinators from DSBA collage went to the school to conduct the event. The school students were first explained about the entrepreneurship and their role in students’ lives. The students of the school took part in the event with gusto and tried to make posters of the company they were aware of in their unique style using paper.   

School Activities

The events were conducted in Alpine Public School.

The theme of the event was ‘Innovative India’, the school seemed to be a right place to look for innovation as the future of the country was there! The children. Young minds have so much energy, creativity and enthusiasm rarely seen in adults. The commitment and the effort shown by the tiny tots was truly commendable.

Collage: The students were given newspapers and cardboard, and they had to make a depiction on the charts so as that it resembled a logo of a company.

Puzzle mania: The students were given a crossword puzzle and 20 minutes’ time to solve it.    

Creation of product: Participants had to create any product of their choice by using waste materials, like newspaper and plastic. 

Cooking without fire: The participants were given an hour’s time to make eatables with their own ingredients.

Name the price: The participants were given a list of products along with the prices, they had to give the correct price of the product

Pictionary: The participants were given the name of the company or the brand, they had to draw the logo or the pictorial description.

Video advertisement: It was an event where the participants were supposed to make a video and advertise a product. It was a group event. The participants had to avoid usage of any present tagline of a product or the company.

The advertisement of products and making a video was a learning experience as well as a skill building experience for the students. Innovation, adding new features to the products given and creatively advertising the same was done by the young champs admirably considering that they have limited exposure to the entrepreneurial world.

Guess the product: The participants had to identify the blurred or partial image of the product and guess the name of the product.

Cooking without fire

Cooking without fire was a team activity where the participants were supposed to cook without fire and the time limit given to prepare was 1hour and 45 mins and the teams had 15 mins to sell the food.

The requirement was the team had to present the initial investment that they incurred to prepare the food, the actual cost at which the goods were sold and the profit generated by the team.

The team that made the highest profit made was announced as winner of the event

Costume designing:

This event was to use newspapers and create a new fashion costume.

There were five teams totally. The time given to make the costumes was one hour. One of the team members had to don the costume.

Rs.50 game:

Rs. 50 game was a group event and each team had five students. Each member of  the team have to invest Rs.10 each , so it summed  to an investment of Rs.50. Out of that amount the teams were supposed to get the raw materials and convert  it into a finished good and sell it.

There were totally 6 teams in this event, the maximum profit maker was announced as the winner.

Painting:

For painting competition, there were eight participants. The theme was ‘innovation for better tomorrow’. All the participants participated with a lot of zeal. The event took place for more than one hour. One winner and runner-up was chosen .Both the paintings displayed the theme effectively.

Puzzle mania:

Puzzle mania, a team event had three participants each. The teams were given a crossword puzzle each, they had to finish the puzzle within 10 minutes after receiving it. The team with the highest number of correct words became the winner.

 

All the teams used their utmost skills, and rendered undivided attention in their bid to find the maximum number of words in the puzzle.

There was a tie in the end, two teams found 13 correct words each.

With the consent of both the teams, the teams were adjudged joint-winners.

Winners: Mohammed Afshan Pasha [VI Semester BCom], Komal [IV Semester BCom] and Jidolie. [IV Semester BBM]

 

Rapid fire:

The rapid fire event was a true test of the awareness of the contestants; they were asked questions from various sectors & disciplines. It consisted of three rounds in all, in the first round two questions were asked. Each team had to tell the names of the founders of companies, the second round was a bit trickier in which the participants were asked to answer 3 products of a particular company and the final round was a negative-marks round.

Business Plan:

A Business plan is an essential roadmap for any business. As a part of U2E e-week, an event was conducted to bring out the most competitive business plan from the students.

The event started at 11:00 am, consisted of four teams which came out with innovative ideas and presented them to the judges and fellow students.

  1. Team-1: Mitesh and Vyas- “When You Can Invest Why to Waste”

     Business plan to provide “Risk free” Investment in Real-estate Sector.

  1. Team-2: Gourav Mukherjee and Rishabh Jain- “Clean for you”.

   Discussed the development of an app that would cater to household and corporate cleaning

   services.        

  1. Team-3: Muhammad Haveli and Muhammad Topiwala- “Electronic bike”.

    Discussed development of electronic vehicles using the technology borrowed from ‘The 

     TESLA motor company USA.

  1. Team-4: Afshan and Deepak- “A&D Gappa”

    Business plan to start up a branded Golgappa outlets.

     Each team was given 5+1 minute to explain the business plan.

Role Play:

Role play was a team event, each team consisting of two people. The participants were given a situation, how best the participants were able to do justice to the script was the key. They were given 1 minute to read and prepare for the enactment and 2 minutes to present.

The topics covered business situations as well as general situations too.

 

There were a total of 8 teams; each team understood the situation quite well and presented beautifully. They were scored on their use of language, continuity in the script and the judicious use of time.

 

Overall, it was an enjoyable experience testing the participants on their readiness and presence of mind.

Short movie on entrepreneur life:

Movie-making is an art, depicting the life of a person in an hour or two is a tough task. This particular competition was very interesting, where the teams truly did inspiring work, by using their skill and putting in a lot of effort.

The teams had to make a video depicting an entrepreneur’s life in 5-10 minutes; they could either pick an entrepreneur of their choice or create a fictional one. The teams were given a week’s time to shoot their movie and present in on the day set for them. The stage was set for something fun, great and interesting.

The movies made were truly inspiring. All the participants used the time judiciously and depicted their message within the stipulated time, in their own and innovative way. It was a great achievement considering that all the participants were amateurs.

Shutterbug:

     It was an event based on live photography. Participants were asked to click pictures inside the campus. This was a fun and imagination oriented event. In this event there were 2 rounds:

Round 1:

In this round the participants are given a time limit of 20 mins to click as many good photos as possible.

Round 2:

Top five pictures were selected and students were told to state their interpretations and reasons as to why they had clicked a particular picture.

Ajin and Albin, Zakir and Uday were considered as the special performers.

Skill Testing:

In the skill testing event, the skills of the organizers and the coordinators were tested which included communication and imaginative skills, creativity, innovation, idealistic nature, etc. All these skills were enhanced in them as they got an opportunity to overcome stage fear to a certain level.

Team Building:

Team building was an event where the participants had to showcase their team work abilities while the audience provided a lot of distractions. In this event the participants were also given a chance to lead the team.

 

There were a total of 5 teams of 7 each for the team building event. The teams were in for a surprise as they were shuffled randomly, and they were taken to a room and the door was shut on them. The event was a complete high-energy one, full of twists and challenges. Chairs were arranged in a maze like manner, and one member of the team was blindfolded, while the other team-mates had to direct the blindfolded person to the end of the maze. The teams who were inside the room had no idea as to what was going on outside.

The challenges involved in this event were co-ordination among the team-mates and complete concentration to what their team-mate is directing them to do.

Time Management:

An entrepreneur needs to manage time well. This could easily be seen in the coordinators/organizers as they ensured all the events were coordinated and managed within the time allotted to them. Hence, time management was the crucial part in hosting and organizing the whole event.

Treasure Hunt:

The day and the time had arrived for the biggest and the most exciting event of U2E, ‘The Treasure Hunt’. About 15 teams of 5 each vied with all their energy and brilliance in an exhilarating 4-clue event.

In the first round the teams were given three clues, and with the help of that they had to find the next clue within a time limit of 15 minutes, they progressed to the next round only if they managed to find that. In the second round they had to find a clue that helped them reach the third clue wherein they had to find a picture of the person mentioned in the clue. Out of the 15 teams, only the top-9 proceeded to the next round.

In the next round the teams were given a clue each and only those who deciphered them reached the final round. In the final round, the top-3 teams had to solve one clue, once again find the treasure-a picture with the help of the clue and whosoever, found the picture won the competition.

Pictionary:

It was a team event, with three or four students in each team. One team member had to use his/her drawing skills to draw the company /logo on the board without using any alphabets /numbers. At no time could he/she look behind at his teammates. The other team members had to guess within two minutes. The team who came up with the right answer qualified to go into the second round. The second round was once again the same but now the change was in the duration. The team that took less time to come up with the right answer was declared the winner.

Wrap up ceremony:

The E-week ended with a wrap up ceremony. All the creativity and innovation done by the students during the eweek celebrations was displayed on the glass wall at the entrance to the college. A hug sheet was also put up on the wall .All the teachers and the students signed on that, wrote their thoughts, suggestions and feedbacks related to the events organized.
