“To effectively communicate we must realize that we are all different in the way we perceive the world and use this understanding as a guide to our communication with others”

CIL training was organised for II Sem BCom ‘A’ & ‘B’students on 17th Jan’17 and for II Sem BBA & BCA students on 01 Feb’17 in the seminar hall –Room no 401 & 402 during the college hours. The topic for the training was “Communication Skills.  CIL under the banner of DSI aims to bridge the gap between pure academics and the corporate realities. The Centre aims to impart innovative soft skill training programs to enable students to become champion leaders in their endeavour, and to sustain a high level of performance at the individual and later at the organizational level.

.

CIL recognizes the challenge of unleashing the potential of individuals to transform them to achieve excellence. The primary aim of all the training modules is to allow students to take control of their lives by re-discovering their potential.

All the four CIL trainers work for Seventh Sense People Development Solutions & have a common area of training expertise -as a soft skills and verbal trainer .Ms Rishita and Ms Nivetha helped II Sem BCom ‘A’ & ‘B’students & Ms Chaitanya and Ms Swetha helped II Sem BBA & BCA students in understanding how to be creative while making presentations and importance of verbal and non verbal communication skills.. The skills are as important in the personal lives as in the professional lives. By improving the verbal communication skills, a student quickly connects and builds rapport, earns respect, gains influence, and becomes more likable and accepted.

The trainers emphasized on the verbal & non verbal communication skills that people need to master if they want to stand out from their competitors. Besides, they also highlighted the importance of right body language in their professional lives. Group interviews were also conducted in the end and the students’ strengths and weaknesses in the discussion were observed and analysed.

Interesting activities were conducted post lunch based on the topic. Students thoroughly enjoyed and wholeheartedly participated in the activities. The activities offered many opportunities for students to practice communicating their strengths and assets while learning how to minimize any perceived barriers.

The students also learnt that communication skills are necessary for the development of self-advocacy and self-determination & are important skills for lifelong success.
