The most anticipated & magnificent megafest, Battalia’17 -an annual Inter College Sports Event incorporated the sports extravaganza was held on 24th & 25th March. With a plethora of events catering to all creative needs, having prizes covering all genres, one could compete, showcase sportsmanship & lock horns with each other. Battalia’17, a hub at DSBA had something for everyone.

Inaugural Ceremony and Valedictory Function was coordinated by Prof Chaitanya, Prof Meera Krishnan & Prof Priyanka.
The inaugural ceremony was on the 24th March’17 and began at 10am.
The emcee for the morning was Yaseer from II Year BBM.He welcomed all the distinguished guests- Mr Shiva Kumar - a BJP leader from Kaggalipura & ex Zilla Panchayat Member ; Mr Sridhar- President of Jaya Karnataka [Yeshwanthpur]; Mr Roshan - the President of National Athletics & a young talented athlete himself. He has won several awards at the state, national and university levels. He has been awarded the best sportsman for the year 2001 & 2002; Mr M Satish Reddy - an active MLA from Bommanahalli Constituency. Known for speeding up the pace of the existing projects as well as implementing new development works on high priority ; Dr [Brig] Sandes -Principal,DSBA; Dr Veena-Dean,DSBA; Prof Nikitha-HOD,DSBA; faculties, participants from approximately fifty colleges & DSBA students. The guests were welcomed with a bouquet by the students.
The programme began with a beautiful rendition of a prayer song by Vyshak, III Year BCA student. This was followed by the lighting of the auspicious lamp by the guests and the students. Dr Sandes welcomed all the guests & expressed his gratitude to them for making it a priority to honour DSBA’s invitation. He also stated that games were an essential part of the college co-curricular activities as it provided for the physical & holistic wellbeing of the students. He wished all the participants good luck and advised them to focus, in all fairness to go beyond their limits, explore their untapped potentials, and to keep pushing themselves until they succeed. After the welcome address, the guests were handed a memento-token of appreciation as they had spared their valuable time and encouraged all by their gracious presence. The guests graciously addressed the audience and voiced similar thoughts- They expected that all would witness athletic performances of the highest quality over the course of two days. They also expressed their good wishes and motivated the participants to do their best and compete in the spirit of sportsmanship and fair play. Besides, take the opportunity to bond together and work as a team
Mr Roshan, Dr Sandes & Pooja J [III Year BCom]-a representative of all students lit the torch and she as a torch bearer ran around the throw ball court holding the torch and the flame high which was indicative that Batallia’17 was indeed officially declared open.
Yaseer proposed the vote of thanks; wherein, he thanked the guests, the sponsors- Jamboree, Quicklo, SLV Developers, Canaraa Auto Centre & Anjani Doors.

Day Two: Eat & Win, Selfie Contest (cancelled) & Finals of Day One Events
The Day Two [25th March’17] events began at 10 am and ended by 4 pm.
The Valedictory Function commenced at 5 pm. Yasser [II Year BBA], the emcee began the programme by welcoming all the guests to an evening of celebration.Dr Sandes, Prof Nikitha, faculties and students of DSBA along with participants of other colleges were present. The guests: Mr Nagaraj -a dynamic and vibrant real estate developer, the SLV Housing Development Corporation owns its origin to him. The organisation works in creating residential & commercial infra; Mr Naveen Kumar V - President of Mantapa Gram Panchayat for past one year & belongs to Congress Party for past 15 years. Has addressed all issues like water and street lights in the village on priority after he took over as a President;Mr Pratham- an Indian film director known for his work in Kannada cinema. He earned rave reviews from viewers and critics alike for his portrayal of various characters on the scene. Also, Kannada Big Boss reality show -Season 4 winner, he is a cynosure of all eyes & Mr Chandan Shetty-Kannada Rap King. The guests were felicitated with mementoes.
Battalia’17 student crew-Bhavin, Arvind, Kenneth, Santosh, Shakthi, Karthik, Nithin, Amit Vijay, Charan, Suhas, Gulshan were honoured with mementoes by Mr Nagaraj.
The Prize distribution ceremony was hosted by Rohan [I Year BCA]
Mr Naveen, Dr Sandes and Prof Nikitha handed over cash prizes, certificates and medals to all the winners of various categories.

After the Prizes were distributed to the winners, Yaseer proposed the vote of thanks. He thanked the guests of honour of both the days, sponsors, Principal, Dean, HOD, faculty coordinators, faculties, office staff, student crew, coordinators, referees, photographers & students of DSBA for the resounding success of Battalia’17. He reminded all the students to have a whale of a time, let their hair down & groove to the beats of DJ Chandan Shetty at the DJ Nite which was to commence soon after the event.
