Bridge Programme conducted for I Year Students

 

At DSBA, Bridge Programme is a pre-orientation program which offers: academic support emphasizing college readiness, and study skills to the first year BCom, BBA and BCA students. While basically an academic program, there are also lectures from selected industry experts and renowned academicians’ and some fun activities with new friends scheduled each day.

The programme began on 5^th July’17 and ended on 8^th July’17 and most of the programmes were conducted in the DSBA seminar rooms.

5^th July’17

In the morning, First year BCom, BBA & BCA students introduced themselves, then Prof Crissy Mathew & Prof Arun Kumar formed student teams for BCom class, conducted ice –breaker activities while, Prof Meera Seshanna & Prof Priyanka did the same in the BBA class.

Prof Arun Kumar & Prof Lakshmikantha introduced subjects & specialization selection for BCom students, Prof Priyanka for BBA students & Prof Sivaselvi for BCA students.

Prof Surekha V Nayak conducted a short session on Body language for BCom students and Dr Mudita Sinha conducted a session on Grooming for BBA & BCA students.

In the afternoon, Dr Veena K N; Dean, DSBA introduced Entrepreneurship & Goal Setting to BCom students and this was followed by a session soft skills by Mr Basil .Prof Nikitha conducted a session on Time Management for BBA & BCA students. This was followed by a session on Body Language by Prof Surekha V Nayak.

6^th July’17

The day began with CA & MTBD subject introduction by Prof Arun Kumar, Prof Chaitanya & Prof Priyanka. Between 10 and 11:30 am, Mr Samith Srinivasan; Campaign Manager, IBM conducted a session on Why Management Education? for all first year students. This was followed by a session on ‘Cyber Security by Mr Shashank Dixit, Cyber Security Expert, Sumeru Solutions.

In the noon, Management movie was shown to all students and related trivia questions were asked by Prof Pravesh and Prof Chaitanya.

7^th July’17

Prof Nikitha held a session on Time Management for BCom students ,while Dr Veena K N ;Dean,DSBA introduced Entrepreneurship & Goal Setting to BBA & BCA students. This was followed by Aptitude Training for BCom students by Prof Arun Kumar and for BBA & BCA students by Prof Meera Seshanna.

In the afternoon, collage activity was conducted in the classrooms for all students. The topic for the collage was “India in 2020” .It was coordinated by Prof Surekha V Nayak & Dr Mudita Sinha.

8^th July’17

Dr Maruthi Ram, HOD, MBA at DSATM was invited to conduct a session on Personality Development for all students in the morning .This was followed by a session on Why Start Ups? by Mr Ashuthosh Sinha,MD & Founder, Robonomics. After the lunch break Prof Surekha V Nayak & Dr Mudita Sinha judged the Presentation on Collage Activity.

The Bridge Programme helped the students gain valuable experience and insight in the areas of leadership development, conflict management, diversity, creative problem-solving, and a beginning to maximizing their college experience.
