CIL Training for First Year Students on 'Personal Effectiveness'

CIL [Centre for Innovation & Leadership] conducted training for the I Semester BCom ‘B section’ and BCA students on 08 Aug’17, BCom ‘A section’ on 09 Aug’17 & BBA students on 21 August’17 on the IV Floor, Management Block during the college hours.

The topic of the training was ‘Personal Effectiveness’.

BCom and BCA students were trained by an inspirational speaker -Mr Shailesh. He advised the students to ‘Be a player and not a mere spectator’. His rich experience helped him to handle and train the students on important aspects such as positive attitude, creativity, smart work and goals. He made them do tasks wherein the students’ leadership and confidence levels were tested. His interactive session allowed the students to ask him queries and the answers given literally blew their minds .He guided the students by way of tasks to deal with difficult work place situations which they might encounter in future.

In the noon, an activity was conducted based on team work. The team had to innovatively market a product and use their salesmanship skills, advertise in a unique way and impress the trainer o such an extent that he would buy the product. The session ended with the students writing their goals and reading them out to the entire group.

Students gained a lot of knowledge by the end of the amazing session and they were so fascinated by the speaker that he became their role model instantaneously.

BBA students had Mr Pratap Simah, a lively personality as their CIL trainer. The programme began with a fun activity wherein the students could ask the trainer any query. It was blended learning as the trainer was approachable and earned trust instantly. An activity was conducted which threw light on how important an approach towards a problem really counted. It also emphasized on how important it is to be open minded. It worked as a suggestion to those who constantly closed their fists instead of being receptive. The key was simple-one has to use the word ‘please’. The training progressed with learning about how the virtual world is, how each one will be perceived and how to tackle the various issues one might face. The next activity was working in teams, an important skill each business student must possess. With this in focus a team building activity was conducted .At the end of it, the students learnt to work upon their team building skills.

After the lunch break, students had to share their aims in life and how they were working toward it. The next activity discussed was a trending topic ‘Leadership’. Students were asked to write a trait a leader must possess and mime it. It was a thoroughly enjoyable activity and students learnt a lot from it. The memorable day came to a close with a heartening story shared by Mr Pratap that left the students speechless and a deep impression in their hearts.

CIL Training was a much needed learning programme that helped the students overcome inhibitions and push themselves by stepping outside their comfort zones!
