Industrial Visits play an important role in DSBA’s education program. Students are taken for industry visits in and around Bengaluru during the academic sessions; wherein, they get practical & hands -on learning and understanding of work processes and business functions. This value-added learning method gives students greater clarity about management concepts as they experience how these concepts are put into action.
The visits were conducted to UNIBIC Foods India Pvt. Ltd, Huskur Road, Bangalore North on three days between 10 am and 1 pm.
The following was the schedule:
On 21st August, III Semester BCom ‘B’ section and III Semester BCA students were accompanied by Prof Chaitanya and Prof Keerthishree.
On 22nd August’17, III Semester BCom ‘A’ section students were accompanied by Dr Mudita Sinha.
On 23rd August’17, III Semester BBA students were accompanied by Prof Crissy Mathew
The students were given an oral presentation by Mr Srinivas, an employee of UNIBIC. UNIBIC has been manufacturing and marketing premium cookies in India since 2004 and the manufacturing unit has high end machinery that is sourced from Italy. Students were given insight into the types of products manufactured, size of the company, employee strength, market share, domestic sales, state-of-the-art facility at the unit that provides superior quality products that ensures rich taste, high aroma, freshness and various flavours that satiates the palate of the consumer. Details were shared about the way the cookies are packed and distributed to the various retail stores
After the students donned a cap each they were shown the raw materials used to manufacture the cookies and taken to the mixing area, the oven, cocoa room, the cookie formation and the packaging section. Students watched the manufacturing process of two kinds of cookies –the chocolate and the butter cookies followed by a walk around the packing section. At the end, the students were given some cookies to devour.
The students were enriched with the unique learning experience .
