DSBA NCC and NSS students made Swachh Bharat Abhiyan their personal mission

On 25th September ’17, NCC and NSS unit of DSBA celebrated the third anniversary of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and the 148th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi by organizing cleanliness awareness drive and people sensitization programme.

20 NCC cadets and 26 NSS volunteers took part in the drive. Associate NCC Officer –Prof (Lt) Nagaraju and Prof Kasthuri Gopal, NSS Program Officer coordinated the event. Naik Subedar Brahmendra, 2 KAR BN NCC gave assistance to the NCC Cadets. Prof Harikrishna was also part in the event. The event began at 11:30 am and ended at 3:30 pm.

The first task undertaken was cleaning of the three iconic statues of Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Former PM; Dr Rajkumar, Legendary actor and Kanaka Dasa, a poet .These statues are in Kumaraswamy Layout and they are  immortalized for their contribution in some measure to the development of the city and or the nation. They grace the parks and the Public Square. The cadets and volunteers cleaned every nook and corner in the vicinity of the statues and gave the statue a spic-and-span look. Inspector Ravi Patel, the police inspector of Kumaraswamy Layout graciously accepted to garland the statues.

The next task was to sensitise people with a message of clean India. The NCC Cadets and the NSS Volunteers took out a rally from Kumaraswamy Layout to Banshankari spreading awareness on the campaign en route. Students had made posters and placards propagating the significance of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. They called out slogans captivating the attention of the onlookers and highlighted to them importance of cleanliness and hygiene.
