Session on 'Brief Overview of studying abroad'

The allure of studying abroad grabs hold of most students at some point in their college life. The need for an international outlook is increasingly seen as a necessity rather than an advantage. Preparing to study abroad can be daunting. Hence the final year BBA students were addressed by the visiting team from The International Knowledge Centre on the 22nd September’17 at 11 am in the seminar hall -104 .The session ended at 12:30 pm.

Dr [Brig] Sandes; Principal, DSBA and Dr Veena K N; Dean, DSBA were present for the session.                 

 

The International Knowledge Centre is a one-stop shop for the Indian students exploring oversees education. Ms Suman Nayak, Manager, Internship and Academic Programs, The International Knowledge Centre initiates and supervises all the inbound programs at The IKC and assists in the creation of short term study abroad programs for Indian students. With over three years of experience as a counsellor at Long Island University, she enjoys interacting with students and developing programs for students studying abroad. She strongly believes that the future belongs to the global citizen!

Ms Nayak mentioned that at The IKC, they provide Indian students credible and timely assistance to find the “right-fit” program & clear, reliable and comprehensive information regarding their overseas study options. Their staff determines which of the tests are necessary to support the application and help the students plan for the same. They help in the documentation, get in touch with their partner institutions, prepare for visa interview and provide orientation for pre departure too!

The students were also addressed by Ms Ashley Ward, Assistant Director of Recruitment, Atkinson Graduate School of Management, Willamette University. She highlighted on some cornerstones of the early career & career change MBA. The MBA designed at Willamette gives the tools and experience to help students launch one’s career with purpose and direction. She provided information on the eligibility , areas of interest that are pursued by the international students , the entering class of 2016 profile, the graduating class of 2016 employment report, merit based scholarships available for the graduating students and the estimated tuition and fees

  

The exposure and the guidance helped the students gain a balanced perspective.
