Third International Conference at Dayananda Sagar Business Academy

Dayananda Sagar Business Academy Centre for Management Development and Research [CDMR] and Centre for Responsible Management Education [CRME] conducted the Third International Conference on “Challenges, Opportunities and Trends in New Age Management Education” on 23 February 2018 at Dr C D Sagar Auditorium,DSI Campus .

Education is empowerment as it leads to acquisition of Knowledge, Skills, Values, Beliefs

and Habits. Management education though based on past experiences and achievements is ever evolving and attempts to fit in to the present and future market demands. Global mega trends and the revolution in information access and sharing have huge implications on higher education in management. Students can learn seemingly credible courses from anywhere in the world through Massive Open Online Courses [MOOC] or virtual class rooms and have control over the content they access.


‘Global Mega Trends’ – sustained and macroeconomic forces that impact business, economy, education, society, culture and personal life will define our future world, and its increasing pace of change will lead to a highly stimulating future. Though there is certainty about the changes, coping with the pace is the most important challenge the industry across sectors will face. Education sector is no exception. Preparing young minds for the changing scenario and for the future needs is now the most important responsibility of educators. With information technology and artificial intelligence engulfing almost every sphere of human activity, and in the context of demographic dividend, proactive designing and delivery of futuristic education will determine the success of the professional education.  


The one day conference gave a platform to corporate, academia and researchers to put forth their initiatives, ideas and experiences for a better tomorrow. Sub themes included Curriculum, Pedagogy and Learning Outcomes, Education for Empowerment, Digitalization and Management education, Management education with Social Sensitivity and Responsibility, Management Research; Importance and Challenges, Futuristic ,Management Education Models, Entrepreneurship, Online, Distance, Class room and Mixed modes of learning, Role of government and private agencies in enhancing academic quality, Law and Policy framework, Economic development and Sustainability& other topics relevant to the conference theme.


Ms Sharvani B S [II Year BCom] and Mr Akarsh Yadav [II Year BBA] were the emcees of the day.  


The conference began at 10 am.Ms Sharvani welcomed the gathering. An invocation song was rendered by Mr Naman Chowdhary [III Year BBA] .The welcome address was given by Dr [Brig] Sandes, Principal DSBA and Conference Chair wherein he welcomed all the esteemed guests. His speech highlighted on the invasion of Artificial Intelligence, the advent of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and the way Management Education has to undergo radical changes to keep pace with the enormous challenges. All the guests were invited to be seated on the dais, were florally welcomed and requested to light the lamp to mark an auspicious beginning to the conference. Dr A. N. N .Murthy, Vice Chancellor of Dayananda Sagar University delivered the Inaugural Address. The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Kalpana Gopalan, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary to Government DPAR [Administrative Reforms and Training] Government of Karnataka.Prof R Janardhan, Pro Vice Chancellor, Dayananda Sagar University and Senior Executive Vice-President, Dayananda Sagar Institutions presented an impelling address.Shri Galiswamy, Secretary, Dayananda Sagar Institutions gave the Presidential Address. The Chief Guest was honoured by Shri Galiswamy. The Vote of Thanks was proposed by Prof Meera Krishnan.


After a coffee/tea break, the first Plenary session began at 11:30 am. The eminent personalities who addressed the session were Dr. Sari Mattila, full time visiting faculty and OB-HRM Area, FPM Coordinator, IIM – Bangalore; Dr Krishna Prasad, Director and Country Manager at Aptiv Technical Centre India [TCI] and  Mr Raj Menon, Director, Workplace Solutions Pvt Ltd. The guests were honoured by Dr Punith Cariappa, Associate Dean, Dayananda Sagar University.


Post lunch, the second Plenary Session began at 1:30 pm. The dignitaries who addressed the gathering were Mr Muralidhar Koteshwar, Managing Director, Mentor Cloud; Mr Aksh Sinha, Vice President - Global Sales, Strategy and Marketing, Sumeru enterprise, Tiger Business Solutions [P] Ltd; Mr Rajeev Ragunath, Founder & CEO-Kramah Software India Pvt.Ltd and Dr. Ganesha Bhatta, Former Principal – MES, Teachers College CTE, Bangalore Rural. The guests were honoured by Dr Veena, Dean-DSBA

This was followed by Question/Answer session .The audience comprising of the students, paper presenters and participants asked their queries to the session speakers’ who adroitly answered all of them.


 After a tea/coffee break the technical sessions commenced at 3:30 pm at CD Sagar Block. They were chaired by Dr Punith Cariappa, Associate Dean, Dayananda Sagar University and Dr Geeta Reddy, HOD, VTU-MBA, DSATM.


Dr Veena KN –Dean DSBA and Conference Co-Chair gave the report of the one day conference and also proposed a vote of thanks wherein she appreciated the faculty and students for the wonderful coordination. The anchors of the valedictory function were Prof

Meera Krishnan and Dr Surekha Nayak. Dr Sandes handed the certificates to the participants.

With that the Third International Conference culminated successfully!
