Alumni Meet 2018 'Life is a journey, not a destination'

The second Alumni Meet was held at the college premises in Room G-05 on 24 March’18 at 10:30 am.

Alumni Meet provided an opportunity to the graduate students to meet each other, their former teachers and also notice the changes and developments that had happened in their alma mater.

The campus was abuzz with excitement while the alumni registered themselves with Ms Sandhya and their opinions were collected through an Alumni feedback form.

Dr [Brig] Sandes-Principal, DSBA; Dr Veena K N –Dean, DSBA, Prof Nikitha Sreekantha  –HOD, DSBA faculty, and final year students were present on the occasion. 

Prof Nikitha welcomed the alumni and expressed her gratitude and happiness on seeing the big turnout. She said that the institution felt a great pride seeing the alumni’s achievements in all walks/spheres of life. She concluded her talk by providing the sequence of the events.

Dr Sandes also stated his delight on meeting the alumni, emphasized on the importance of the Alumni Association, its role, the need for further strengthening the linkage between the Alumni and the alma mater, and called for greater Alumni participation in future.

Ms Sharvani B S, II year BCom student took over and invited Mr Syed Sulaiman [Batch 2013-2016] to the dais .He was felicitated by the Principal for the incredible accomplishments he has attained so far .Mr Syed is a fighter/Trainer Muaythai Boxing MMA at Xtreme Muay Thai Academy, 17 times National Muaythai champion, 4 times world champion and times Asian Indoor Martial Arts champion.

Mr Syed then showed some basic self defence moves that anyone can practise.  He took the help of Prof Harikrishna, a faculty and Mr Mustafa, a student to show his demonstration! DSBA is undeniably proud of Mr Syed for his incredible feat.

Dr Veena then addressed the alumni, thanked them for their presence and hoped many more can make it in the next alumni meet. She emphasised that it was indeed a day for the alumni to enjoy .Even she stated the significance of the day and expressed hope that the alumni will understand the worth in the times to come. She advised the members of the association to inform the alumni outside the state/country to establish chapters of DSBA Alumni so that they meet and strengthen the Alumni network. Besides, she also suggested to the alumni to offer feedback /suggestions regularly either via email or social networking sites for institutional improvement.

This was followed by an alumni interaction. The final year students asked questions to the alumni regarding career, their profession as well as questions that were generic in nature.

Alumni were given a memento each as a token of affection from their Alma mater.The formal alumni event was coordinated by Prof Srilalitha and she was rendered assistance by Prof Meera Seshanna and Prof Meera Krishnan.

A cultural event was put up by the current students. Mr Yaseer [III year BBA student] was the emcee for the cultural show. It comprised of a group song by Mr Mohsin [II Year BCom, Ms Maitreyee and Ms Hamli [II Year BBA], a solo dance by Mr Surya [III Year BCom], a group dance by Ms Maitreyee, Ms Chaithra, Ms Shikha, Ms Swathi, Mr Rohan and Mr Hemanth [II Year BBA] and a solo Dance by Ms Swathi [II Year BBA].Mr Yaseer requested the alumni to come forward and entertain the audience. Ms Pooja [Batch 2014-2017] and Mr Prashanth [2013-2016] performed a dance each amidst cheering by their friends. The cultural show was coordinated by Prof Crissy Mathew.

For the moment to be etched in the minds forever there was a group photograph taken by Mr Nikhil[III Year BCom student] in the beautiful environs of the college .The meet ended with a bonhomie over sumptuous lunch.
