Session on Business Etiquette and Professional Development

A session on ‘Business Etiquette and Professional Development’ was conducted for the first year BCom, BBA and BCA students on 4 July ’18 in the seminar hall between 1:30 pm and 3: 30 pm by Dr Geetha-Professor and Head of Department of Management Studies, DSATM.

Dr Geetha has a career spanning 14 years as an academician. Her unique abilities and strengths as a professional are reflected by an exclusive professional experience in varied areas. She is a strong education professional with a PhD in Digital HRM and has 25 research publications to her credit. She has won five best paper awards in various national and international conferences hosted by reputed B-Schools. She has served as track chair and panellist at international conferences and is also involved in academic associations. Dr Geetha has delivered guest lectures, organized several FDP’s workshops, seminars and has been a peer reviewer for international journals. She has guided PhD research scholars and has adjudicated management events , is serving as an advisory board member for ICTEB-2018 International Conference .Besides this , she is also a member of professional associations and NGOs.

Her session included generic grooming tips, basic coordinates, professional communication - the way it’s to be used positively to influence people, body language, business etiquette, difference between social and business etiquette and email etiquette.

She also emphasized its importance in today’s competitive world where knowing the rules of business etiquette is vital and overlooking it may jeopardize business relationships. Good business etiquette can give an edge in almost every situation. 

The students recognised the importance of understanding the fundamentals of business etiquette and found the session very informative and enjoyable.
