DSBA Venue of The Bespoke Show

 ‘The Bespoke Show’ was organised at DSBA on May 11, 2019 between 11 am and 1 pm, at the IV floor hall, B Block.

The emcee, Ms Shalini Rout from 3rd year BBA welcomed Ms. Asha Sampath and Mr. Sid Baliga, the Panelists, Dr [Brig] Sandes, Principal; Dr Veena K N, Dean; Prof Nikitha Sreekantha, HOD and DSBA students.

Bespoke is defined as something that is “custom-made”. The Bespoke Show (TBS) is an initiative conceptualized to live up to this dictionary definition. It is neither a “me too” inspirational talk nor is it a platform to share larger than life personal stories. TBS is a forum for candid discussion on topics of interest covering conventional and non-conventional sectors; mainstream and offbeat careers; art and literature; media and entertainment; and even international affairs.

Ms Rout welcomed Ms. Asha Sampath and Mr. Sid Baliga to the dais.

Ms. Asha Sampath is founder-director of Brand Horizon, a brand management & consulting firm based in Bangalore. She is the former Managing Director of Endeka Ceramics Ltd. Ms. Asha is an independent director on the board of Toyota Financial Services India Ltd and is also a part of the Advisory Council for EFI.

Mr. Sid Baliga is an educationist by profession and an author by passion. He has published articles in The Times of India, The Assam Tribune and the periodicals of the ICFAI University Press. Deccan Herald quoted Mr. Sid for his expertise in international SOP and resume development. He advocates fundamental rights and has crowd-funded a campaign titled “Bihar ki Beti” twice on Milaap. First, in 2017, for a 5-year old child from Begusarai, Bihar and second, in 2019, for a victim of human trafficking from Bihar. His book “IT’S OFFICIAL, STUPID” which is available on Amazon & Flipkart, revolves around gullibility of women in the workplace.

The discussion on 11th May’19 was on “Innovate, Cross-Skill, Up-Skill (ICU) in a VUCA (Volatile Uncertain Complex and Ambiguous) world”; wherein, the audience heard three perspectives from three business leaders who brought in a unique flavour of expertise.

Mr. Meghdoot Bose, the first panelist, is the Business Head, for the world-famous Dale Carnegie Training operations in India, which has a global experience of having worked with over 400 of the Top Fortune 500 companies. Mr. Bose is also a facilitator for two of Dale Carnegie’s signature workshops – Dale Carnegie Course and High Impact Presentation along with being a Digital Sales Trainer for their Asia-Pac Region. He has successfully delivered sessions for esteemed audiences at Citibank, Novaritis, Swiss Re, PWC, EY, Credit Suisse, AIG, PepsiCo, Ericsson India, Concentrix, Capgemini , Fidelity, DHL Express, Cairn India, BPCL, Bajaj Auto, Integron Managed Services, ICICI Pru, Henkel Adhesives, BMC Software, BMW, Integron IT Services, Biological E Limited and many more. He has been recognized globally by the Dale Carnegie & Associates, USA for his contributions to the Organization by being awarded Rookie of the Year, 3 years in a row. Mr. Bose is an MBA from SP Jain, Mumbai and is crazy about Football with Arsenal Football Club being his favourite.

Dr Sandes handed over a bouquet and welcomed Mr Meghdoot Bose.

Mr. Ramesh Kumar is the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Eduquity. He is an alumnus of NIT Jamshedpur; has worked for BHEL; and has delivered a talk at TEDx. Mr. Kumar has 39 years of industry experience in manufacturing and education segments with a passion for new technologies and focus on productivity. He is an ardent believer of ‘Think Simple’ & ‘Nothing is impossible’ and addresses complex problems from different angles to provide simple solutions. He was an active lead member in Creating MRP II (BHEL, Bangalore) and successfully created India’s best Computer Based Exam system (at Eduquity) that is used for various exams like BITSAT, GITAM, PESSAT, and many Public Service commissions with Zero error, i.e. Not a student went back without writing exam.

Dr. Veena handover a bouquet and welcomed Mr. Ramesh Kumar.

Mr. Sudhansu Panigrahi is the Vice President and Bangalore Center Head of UST Global. He is an alumnus of Northern Illinois University, USA. As the Center Head of UST Global Bangalore location, Mr. Panigrahi is responsible for operations, revenue growth, customer satisfaction, branding and associate engagement initiatives. He has been instrumental in managing the growth of Bangalore location from 800 associates to 5000 associates in last five years providing services to large captive centers. Mr. Panigrahi has worked in United States for 14 years where he spent a significant amount of time in the Credit Card and Health Care industry prior to returning to India in 2007 later he worked in Ness Technology, iSOFT and Headstrong in Bangalore.

Prof Nikitha handed over a bouquet and welcomed Mr. Sudhansu Panigrahi.

It was time for the panel discussion and the hosts led the show and gave the audience a bird’s eye view of top-level leadership and how that was affecting businesses in a modern digital world. The panellists were lively and engaged the audience and the other panellists. It was an informative and interesting session and enthralled each one.

Ms Asha Sampath concluded the session. This was followed by a question and answer segment and ten minutes were allotted for questions from the audience. As a token of appreciation, Ms. Asha handed over a memento to the panelists- Mr. Bose, Mr. Kumar and Mr. Panigrahi.

Dr Sandes also spoke about the topic and his address was truly edifying. As a token of appreciation, Ms. Asha handed over a memento to Dr. (Brig) Sandes.

Ms Shalini Rout proposed the vote of thanks and thanked Ms Asha and Mr Sid for hosting the panel discussion at DSBA campus which immensely benefitted all the students.

The discussion was very relevant for budding graduates and post-graduates who will, in a few months from now, enter the corporate maze and take on diverse role
