Session on Personality Development

First year students had a session on ‘Personality Development’ on 11th July 2019 from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm at the IV Floor hall, B Block.                    

The speaker was Dr Maruthi Ram. He is Professor & HOD, Department of MBA, Research Centre, BNM Institute of Technology, Bengaluru. He has an MBA [Marketing] and an MBA [HRM]. In the year 2011, he got his PhD degree from the University of Mysore. Apart from the above, he got a Post Graduate Diploma in Yoga in 2009 and MSc in Yoga in 2011. Dr Ram carries a rich experience of 27 long years of experience from Corporates and has been an academician from the past ten plus years. He has worked as Professor and Program Head in NCET, DSI Groups, RVIM and Citech. He has presented research papers in 38 National/International conferences and seminars and published 18 research papers in international journals. He is also guiding seven PhD Research Scholars leading to PhD degree in VTU. In the social service front, so far, he has taken more than three thousand yoga classes free of cost in various organizations and has won many awards for the same. He is also a Kannada poet and authored two books.       

In his session, Dr Maruthi Ram introduced and discussed Management -as a simple approach. He dissected the word ‘MANAGEMENT’ and explained each of them, shared tips on a simple approach to high performance as well as, certain universal truths. He encapsulated them in the points on the checklist and said that if adhered it will help the students find a route through all the confusion, obstacles and challenges thrown at them in life. He further spoke about self-improvement. He first defined self, followed by practical ways to improve oneself- successful individuals conduct themselves with exemplary character by embracing and displaying values in their everyday actions.                           

He ended his session with a number of inspirational quotes which helped in stating the importance of responsibility, integrity trustworthiness, respect, fairness, caring, and citizenship. He said these virtues when incorporated in life improves one’s code of conduct.

The interactive session was received well by the students as the method of delivery was easy to receive, applicable and relevant.
