Independence Day celebrated with patriotic fervour

The 73rd Independence Day was celebrated with fervour on 15th August 2019 at the entrance of DSBA Block. NCC Cadets escorted the guests and gave a guard of honour to Dr B R Lakshmikantha, Principal-DSTM and Dr [Brig] Sandes, Principal-DSBA.

Dr Nandini, Vice Principal-DSATM; Dr Veena K N, Dean-DSBA, Prof Nikitha Sreekantha, HOD-DSBA, administrative staff ,30 NCC cadets and more than 60 students from DSBA were present at the Flag Mast Pole.

At 9 am, the flag was hoisted by Dr B R Lakshmikantha and Dr [Brig] Sandes. Junior Commission Officer Jasveer Singh from 2 Karnataka NCC Bn and Lt M G Nagaraju also assisted in hoisting the flag. The national anthem was sung with zeal.

This was followed by inspirational speeches given by Dr B R Lakshmikantha, Dr [Brig] Sandes, Dr Nandini and Dr Veena K N who recalled sacrifices made by martyrs, years of hard struggle by many great freedom fighters, development and progress after independence. All of them urged that its time one respects and values the freedom and as dutiful citizens commit responsibility towards the nation.

The function came to an end at the carpark with a Rank Pipping Ceremony for Cadet Likith from II Year BCom who became a Junior Under Officer.

Similar function was hosted by the hostelites at the Basketball Court. The entire lot of people moved there for the second flag hoisting ceremony. The whole area resonated with patriotic songs.

The venue looked festive as it was beautifully decorated with tricolour banners and balloons. The painstaking efforts of the hostelites was lauded by one and all.

The flag was hoisted by both the Principals and once again motivational speeches were given to NCC Cadets, DSATM & DSBA students. The function came to a close with sumptuous eats!
