Orientation on ‘Domain Specific Certification Program- Global Online Trading Certification’ by TrakInvest was scheduled on 26^th August 2019 at 10:30 am at IV Floor Seminar Hall for V Semester BCom and BBA students.

Prof Nikitha Sreekantha -HOD welcomed and introduced the trainer-Mr Arjun Chakraborty to the audience.                              

Mr Arjun Chakraborty is the President & CEO - India, TrakInvest Group. He has been the SVP & Head - Product & Online Business, Religare Securities Ltd; Product Head Equity, Web 18 Securities Pvt Ltd (moneycontrol.com) and Manager, ICICIdirect.com. Mr Arjun is an MBA, CFA and also an alumnus of the Harvard Business School. He has 16 years of experience leading Product, Sales and Operations teams across India & Australia, has worked with marquee organisations - ICICI, Religare Securities & Network18 and has built the India business of TrakInvest, driving growth through innovation and key partnerships in the region.

TrakInvest Pte Ltd. is a company registered in Singapore since 2013. It is a virtual equity stock market trading platform with social features where users can learn and practice stock trading across 10 stock exchanges, share investment ideas with their peers and earn real money when they get tracked because of their good investment returns. 

Mr Arjun enlightened the students about TrakInvest- the company at the start of the session. He said that TrakInvest boasts of 100,000 users, of which 17-19 percent are active at any given point in time. They spend an average of 14 minutes per session on the platform. He further explained that TrakInvest is a peer-to-peer learning model, where the user is knowledgeable and makes his virtual portfolio, his peers keep track of the stocks he buys and sells, and copy the same trades. In the other words, users can follow or “trak” the trades of successful investors and mimic those trades to build their own portfolio. One is able to learn from other users as well as share one’s insights with them. In addition, “learn-share-earn” TrakInvest model comes with many competitions that gives users a chance to earn cash prizes, as well as internships at leading banking and financial services companies.

Mr Chakraborty shared a glimpse of the beginner’s course which introduces the student to stock investing and financial modelling and helps them understand the key investment techniques before choosing the company. The course includes theory sessions as well as practical lab sessions that will allow the students to practise theory learnt in class. In addition, students learn basic to intermediate concepts, deep-dive further into the company’s financial statements and taught to calculate and interpret the financial markets. Finally, the students will learn to pick the right stocks and test their stock ideas by trading using virtual trading stimulator. At the end of the program, students will be assessed and will get a personal performance scorecard that allows them to showcase their skills when they attend an interview. 

With the culmination of the last of the series of the orientation on ‘Domain Specific Certification Program’ the students can choose one of the certification programs- Advanced Digital Marketing, Financial Modelling or Global Online Trading Certification. They can now charter their career path by making a great and wise choice!
