Field Trip to UNIBIC

Field trips to industries are considered as one of the tactical methods of teaching. The reason being- students get to know things practically through interaction, working methods and industry practices. Furthermore, it gives varied exposures of the practical working environment.

The fieldtrips were conducted to UNIBIC Foods India Pvt. Ltd, Huskur Road, Nelamangala on the following three days between 10 am and 1 pm.

On 17th September 2019, 75 students from V Semester BBA & BCA were accompanied by Mr. Basil Ealias, Corporate Relations Manager. 

On 18th September 2019, 49 students from III Semester BCom B section were accompanied by Prof Usha and Prof D K Rajani. 

On 20th September 2019, 43 students from III Semester BCom B Section were accompanied by Prof Srilalitha and Mr Basil Ealias.

Within an hour the group reached the venue .At the gate; the students were given disposable caps by the security and were directed into the cookie land. Mr. Sanath Guru Rao, Quality Assurance In charge introduced himself and then the students were narrated and shown a video of the entire manufacturing process of biscuits. Unibic cookies are no doubt legendary, what’s equally amazing is that Unibic as a company has also made history. Students were shown a collection of special moments and memories from Unibic’s rich history. Students were also told that UNIBIC is a pioneer in innovation and at the company they constantly experiment with flavours and forms and create products that surprise and delight consumers around the world. 

Students were taken into the plant to witness the production of cookies right from the beginning. The steps in manufacturing a cookie include storage of raw materials, mixing of ingredients, baking of cookies and packing and warehousing. The high end machinery has been sourced from Italy. Unibic has pioneered in using wire cut technology in manufacturing their cookies and that along with the use of rich ingredients makes their cookie dough have a softer consistency and hence Unibic is able to produce cookies with real home-made taste and feel.Mr Sanath ensured that all the doubts that the students had was clarified before they stepped out of the factory premises.

Cookie lovers were in for a surprise as they were given the rich and flavoursome cookies to relish!
