On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti and Lal Bahadur Shastri Jayanti, ‘THE URBAN READER’ -DSBA Literary Club conducted a Sketching competition on Thursday, the 3rd October’19 between 2:30 pm and 4 pm at G-05.The activity was coordinated by Prof Meera Krishnan, Faculty Coordinator-Literary Club and Prof Prakasha, Faculty member-Literary Club.
The topic was ‘Bringing Mahatma to Life! The competition was open to all students .29 students from BCom, BBA & BCA programs participated in the competition.
The rules stated for the competition was as follows: Sketching /Drawing in Black and White only! It had to be related to Mahatma Gandhi’s life & works /ideals /Philosophy. Product symbolism e.g.-Cotton/thread/khadi etc associated with Gandhiji’s life was allowed as that would enhance the black and white drawing.
At 2:30 pm, Prof Nikitha Sreekantha-HOD lit the lamps and paid floral tributes to the photographs of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri. She addressed the students and spoke about both the icons and recalled their numerous messages to humanity- the values of truth, non-violence, harmony, morality and simplicity and motivated students to rededicate themselves to the core values for benefit of self and others. This was followed by the sketching competition.
After the competition, the sketches were displayed in HOD’s room and the entire faculty in unanimity chose the winners.
