Ayudha Puja Celebrations at DSBA

Ayudha Puja, part of Dusshera festival is celebrated at DSBA premises since the beginning. This year it was celebrated on 5th October 2019. It is a celebration involving worship of the tools which one uses in one’s day to day life. It is believed that by placing these items before the almighty will help purify the tools .It also connotes that a divine force is working behind it to perform well and for getting the proper reward. On the day of the puja, these are not to be disturbed.

The office staff –Ms Sandhya, Ms Rajeshwari, Mr Naveen and Mr Lokesh bought puja items and arranged the puja area.

Faculty turned up by 8:30 am and helped in the arrangements. Beautiful Rangoli was made by Prof Rajani and she was assisted by other faculty members.Prof Nikitha Sreekantha, HOD oversaw the arrangements and lit the lamps. Items were smeared with sandalwood paste, turmeric and vermillion and placed at the altar in front of God’s pictures. The whole area looked festive as it was decorated with flowers, banana leaves and stem as well as mango leaves. Incense sticks and camphor were lit. Books, office accounts etc were also kept in front of the Gods.

At 8:45 am, Prof Harikrishna started the puja, chanted the mantras and performed the rituals. He broke the coconut and pumpkin to ward off the evil eye. Dr Damodar chanted some hymns .It was followed by singing of devotional songs by Dr Veena K N, Dean and Prof Rajani. Puffed rice and sweets kept as offering to God was later distributed to all faculty, office staff, students and housekeeping staff.

HOD and Dean extended their festival greetings and good wishes to everyone on the joyous festive occasion.
