Field Visit to the State Bank of India, Udayapura

Objective: Provide students firsthand experience about how various activities related to banking services are carried out in the bank and give them the feel of work environment in the bank

Learning Outcome: In addition to learning how banks are the nerve centers of an economy, students got to grips with the idea of monetary value and saw for themselves how the skills they learn in the classroom is applied at a virtual work place. 

The experiential learning began with getting acquainted with the basics-opening the bank accounts, filling of pay in slip to deposit money and withdrawal of money through cheque. 

Students were explained the difference between nationalized and private banks, broad classification of products offered by banks, common banking products available-, functioning of Automatic Teller Machine [ATM] and its refilling; digital banking services- e-cheques, Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT),telebanking, mobile and internet banking ; individual banking-Current accounts, Savings accounts, Credit accounts, Demat account, Current account, Savings account, Credit account, debit & credit cards; popular type of FD offered by banks-mutual fund vs. fixed deposit; types of loans and credit options and networking of the bank with other branches through CBS.

The bank manager Mr. Ankur Pandey was quite helpful. He answered all the queries put up by the students and provided them with some practical and hands– on knowledge of basics functionalities. Prof Nikitha thanked Mr. Pandey and presented a token of appreciation for his assistance. 

Overall, it was a knowledgeable trip.
