Program Title: CorelDraw and Introduction to Data Analytics

Program Objective: Enables students to acquire practical proficiency for work with 2D graphics; Students learn how to use all program features for implementation of their own ideas and projects and for poster presentation of various semester projects.
Student Learning Outcome: Participants will be familiar with the CorelDraw workspace, tools, panels, basic techniques and gain an insight into the techniques of creating and manipulating vector (design) objects, shapes and color fills. They will also be able to work with artistic text for the creation of logos, labels and any other one page print design material.

Mr. Madhukar Malyavantham, the trainer, is a Graphic Designer, Digital Marketer, Graphic Trainer and Entrepreneur. He has an MBA in Marketing. Mr. Madhukar is a certified Personal Trainer and Digital Marketing Executive at NICT Computer Education Pvt. Ltd.
In the first week, Mr. Malyavantham trained the first year students in CorelDraw.
He gave an introduction to CorelDraw, basic of vector graphics, applications of CorelDraw, work environment, importance of property bar and documents navigator. In addition, students were taught to select the page size, creating custom page and setting page background.
Students were taught to do various designs and logos with help of the following tools.

Using the rectangle tool; drawing all the options-ellipses, circle and arcs with the ellipse tool.
Using the pick tool for moving, scaling, rotating and skewing; selecting multiple objects with the pick tool; setting the fill and stroke color for an object duplicating an object; Using polygon tool to draw polygons and star; setting the options for the polygon tool; Using the 3 point rectangle and 3 point ellipse tool; Grouping and ungrouping object; Drawing a chess board with the graph paper tool; Drawing symmetrical and logarithmic spirals; Drawing with basic shape tool, flowchart shape tool arrow shapes tool, callout shape, cloning object. Students learnt the difference between duplicate and cloning; Shape tool, twirl, and smear etc.-Adding and removing nodes with shape tools.-Converting a node to curve.
To demonstrate and create different designs using the shape tool with polygon and stars.
Using knife and eraser tool with all the options in property bar; using the smudge brush and roughen brush tool; using the free transform tool to rotate, scale and skew objects; Using the zoom tool and the hand tool; using free hand tool to draw lines and free form shapes. Using the Bezier tool to draw curves and lines; using the artistic media tool to create different designs; Using the Pen and Polyline tool; using the grid to draw and setting the grid spacing and snapping objects to grid; Using the 3 profit curve tool to draw curves; Using the interactive connector tool for connecting objects; Using the dimension tool to measure distances and angles; Using the Text tool to create Artistic and Paragraph text; difference between Artistic and Paragraph text; fitting the Artistic Text to path.

Using the interactive blend tool to blend two objects; creating circular and straight blend; using the presets for the blend; blend tool with Artistic text; Using interactive contour tool to create contour effect for object and artistic text; Using the interactive distortion tool; creating different flower patterns using push and pull distortion with polygons and basic shapes; Using twister and zipper distortion; Interactive envelope tool.
Using the interactive extrude tool to create a cube, a cylinder and a pyramid.; applying extrusion to artistic text.; applying drop, shadows to text and objects.; Using interactive transparency tool to apply transparency to object, using eyedropper to select Colors from a bitmap image; fill tool, interactive and mesh fill tools; exporting Corel drawings in different formats; exporting to html and pdf format.
Copying the properties of one object to another different view in CorelDraw simple wireframe draft and enhanced view using the page sorter view to rearrange pages; Symbol manager and applying special effects to the bitmap images usage of templates.

The session on CorelDraw ended with students learning Brochures and Business Cards!

In the second week, students were taught the basics of MS Excel. Mr. Madhukar gave an introduction to MS Excel, the basics and features. Further, students were taught other functions- count, find sum and calculate average in Excel.

At the end of it, Microsoft Excel application explored the productive creativity in the students’ minds!
