Program Objective: Provide hands-on use of Microsoft Office applications word processing program (MS Word), a spreadsheet program (MS Excel), a presentation program (MS PowerPoint).
Student Learning Outcome: The students will be able to apply technical knowledge and perform specific technical skills in MS Office applications.
Any person or an organization using computers to handle daily documentation and number crunching would be using MS Office application. It is one of the most popular application suits in global use. MS Office skills in the resume will add value and enhance the chances of employment in any domain. When looking for a job, proficiency in MS Office will position the candidate as the most promising to the employer. Besides, this will also increase the confidence and productivity among individuals when delivering the responsibilities of the job.


The MS Office trainers for BCom and BBA students were:
Mr. Abishith Rao is a soft skills trainer with three years' experience in the industry; currently works in SKILLS CO. He is a PGDHRM Human Resource Management from IGNOU and has a Bachelor of Business Management Human Resource degree from Bangalore University. In addition he also has an Advanced Diploma in NLP Coaching. He believes in ideals and skills that are practiced. He is an ideal trainer with a creative mindset who creates a solicitous aura through his distinctive methodology around the trainees with a pinch of spontaneity. His adaptive nature and skill set, benefits the trainees with conviction and confidence. His sheer understanding of divergent minds gives him an edge, making it easier to deliver.


Mr. Mohsin Khan is a Soft Skills and Aptitude Trainer, NLP Practitioner & motivational speaker. His educational qualifications include Masters in Psychology from IGNOU and Post-Graduation Diploma in Human Resource Management from Symbiosis, Pune. He is also the founder of SKILLS CO., a training company, located in Bangalore. He has been training in educational sector, corporate sector and NGOs. Being a certified corporate trainer his ideology about training is to provide practical, realistic, interactive and fun filled activity-based training for people. A management graduate by qualification, he started his career in human resources department in a leading company. His passion in the field of training made him quit his job and get into the training industry as a Soft Skill trainer.


Ms Marissa Komal Pinto is a Soft Skills and Verbal Trainer, Public speaker and Emcee. Ms Pinto has a Masters in Media & Communication from School of Communication, Manipal and Bachelor of Science from St. Aloysius College (Autonomous), Mangalore. She has been a freelancer since her college days, starting with a fundraiser for an NGO. She later explored the areas of content production, marketing and networking. Her training sessions involve a lot of character development and generating social awareness. As a media enthusiast, she strongly believes that being able to communicate effectively is the strongest form of empowerment.


Ms Nidhishree MV is a Soft Skills Trainer in educational and corporate sectors. She has Masters in Digital Communication and Networking and B.E in Electronics and Communication. She has been responsible in assessing the training needs and implementing training programs. She believes in allowing the participants to overcome their shortcomings by encouraging them in various role playing activities. Her ideologies of training are to up-skill and expand the capabilities of the participants to reach their full potential. She also thinks, as a trainer, familiarization with the participants, understanding their requirement and varying the delivery style to fit the participant's needs is important.
Ms Chandrika B R has an MBA from ICFAI University and is experienced as an executive trainer in APTECH Institute, as HR Executive in Village Multimedia Pvt. Ltd and also has worked as a freelancer at many institutes and trained students in Tally at APS College.

On 27th September 2019, the students got an overview of the program and were taught some of the basics of the keyboard like finger placements, function keys, short cuts etc. The letters were repeated according to the finger placement at different speeds to teach fast typing and later a short story was read out for the students to practice their typing.
On 4th October 2019, the certification program commenced with a typing task -a short story that was read out to the students to type so that they enhanced their typing skills. A poem was also read out to teach the students the functions of the Home tab in MS Word.
On 5th October 2019, students were taught the functions of different tabs; home, insert etc in MS Office and various shortcuts to those functions.
On 11th October 2019, the students learnt the functions of Insert tab- Inserting charts, graphs, smart arts, word arts, pictures etc, in detail.

On 12th October 2019, the students were given tasks like designing brochures; certificates using different functions as a practise as these topics were covered in the previous sessions. Additional tools required to complete these tasks were also taught.
On 18th October 2019, students were briefed about the uses of MS PowerPoint and the various functions of the program. After that, the students were given tasks to present a story in the form of a slide show.

On 19th October 2019, the topic taught was animation tools that are available on MS PowerPoint; students were given a task to animate an image using those tools. Later, the basic of MS Excel was taught. Students were instructed to create a sales invoice and a marks sheet using the basic mathematical formulas.

This was followed by a break to the students in the view of final exams; the sessions continued after the semester holidays on 27th January 2020.
MS Excel training was conducted for the entire day on various advanced excel formulas. Students created an attendance spreadsheet along with calculations of salary.
On 28th January 2020, students were taught text formulas and logical formulas.
With this, the MS Office Certification Program came to an end.
