Nation Building by Creating Awareness and Learning from Ethos and Traditions of Armed Forces

Date: 21 Sept 2020 Time: 11am -12:30 pm Participants: I Sem BCom, BBA & BCA [Batch 2020-2023] students Resource Person: Major General VPS Bhakuni, VSM Major General VPS Bhakuni, VSM, was commissioned into the Dogra Regiment in 1981. He has rendered distinguished service of 37 years in the Armed Forces. The General Officer has participated in various operations including Counter Insurgency operations viz., Op Pawan (Sri Lanka-IPKF), Operation Rakshak and Operation Parakram in Jammu and Kashmir. The General Officer assumed the responsibility of Commandant, Selection Centre South in Jan 2016 which is tasked to select officers for Army, Navy and Air Force. He is presently serving as the CEO of Eagles Unbound, a unique venture dealing with Personality, Skill Development and Outbound Training infused with Adventure. Dr Nikitha Sreekantha -HOD introduced Maj Gen Bhakuni VSM to the session participants. The speaker began by unlocking the power of history by showing images and asking questions to students; thus, taking them back to the roots to make them understand that in spite of being powerful, there can be a downfall due to some decisive factors. He summed it by taking a case study of the Battle of Rajangala. Further, he spoke about the various career options available to youth today and stated that the Armed Forces is one of the most respected professions. He gave an insight into SSB and the mantra for success. Maj Gen Bhakuni also mentioned the characteristics of What makes an Army Man and What can youth learn from Armed Forces! With a thought to ponder- Live a Life Less Ordinary, he ended his session. Dr [Brig] Sandes-Principal expressed his happiness and gratitude to Maj Gen Bhakuni VSM for his inspirational and motivational talk.
