Ayudha Pooja 2020

DSBA continued its annual celebration of Ayudha Pooja and celebrated it this year on 24 October 2020.

 In spite of the trying times that persists because of the ongoing Covid 19 pandemic, it was celebrated by all with enthusiasm and synergy however, each one present adopted all precautionary measures; kept the physical distances in mind keeping the Covid 19 at bay.

DSBAs academic administrative staff as well as the housekeeping staff ensured all arrangements for the pooja was completed in time. The earmarked platform looked festive; bedecked with garlanded images of Gods and Goddess; banana stems with leaves, colourful flowers and mango leaves, fruits and sweets; tools, books and implements of vocation and a beautiful rangoli on the floor.

At 12:30 pm, Dr [Brig] Sandes, Principal; Dr Veena K N, Dean; Dr. Nikitha Sreekantha, HOD faculty and non- teaching faculty assembled at the Department Library. 

Dr. Damodar recited the Sanskrit shlokas while Prof Hari Krishna lit the lamps and performed the pooja by offering flowers, fruits and coconut and applying turmeric and vermillion paste on all the items including ash gourd, which plays a key role in the Ayudha Puja. 

The ash gourd symbolic to ward off the evil eye was broken at the entrance along with the coconut. 

Thus, by performing puja, one recognized, expressed gratitude and honoured the utility of the essential things in one’s life that helps one to sustain and prosper.

Therefore, Ayudha Pooja is an ideal way to be grateful to anything and everything that aids supports living.
