Celebration of Swami Vivekananda Jayanthi 2021

On the 30th of January 2021, NSS wing of Dayananda Sagar Business Academy in the association of Disha Bharat celebrated Swami Vivekananda Jayanthi through the zoom platform. Around 140 Volunteers of Sadana Degree College, Dayananda Sagar Business Academy participated in the event.

Swami Vivekananda, born Narendranath Datta was an Indian Hindu monk. He was a chief disciple of the 19th-century Indian mystic Ramakrishna. He was a key figure in the introduction of the Indian philosophies of Vedanta and Yoga to the Western world, and is credited with raising interfaith awareness, bringing Hinduism to the status of a major world religion during the late 19th century. He was a major force in the contemporary Hindu reform movements in India, and contributed to the concept of Indian nationalism as a tool to fight against the British Empire in colonial India Vivekananda founded the Ramakrishna Math and the Ramakrishna Mission. He is perhaps best known for his speech which began with the words "Sisters and brothers of America ...," in which he introduced Hinduism at the Parliament of the Worlds Religions in Chicago in 1893.

The program started at 10.00 am on the meeting ID 84432791528 with passcode 779565. The program started with a quiz round. The quiz master posed questions on the life incidents of Swami Vivekananda which included questions about his name, his statue at Mumbai, his guru Ramakrishna, his international speech incidences, Belur Math, Ramakrishna Math, his disciples, Sister Nivedita and many related questions.

After the Quiz, the speaker for the event Sri Pramodh Nataraj, co-ordinator, Disha Bharat enlightened the volunteers about many unknown life incidence of Swami Vivekananda, the incidences of the questions posed by foreigners to humiliate him and how he handled the situation, how determined he was, how he plunged into Indian ocean swam to reach the rock and meditated there for 3 days. Then he spoke about the Belur Math, its quote, its vision and mission. He also explained the reason behind it.  Then he spoke about the famous personalities Swami Vivekananda met in his short life span, his guidance to youth, why he inspired Arunima Sinha, an Indian mountain climber and many others. He also spoke about famous personalities like Mahatma Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, etc. who were influenced by Swami Vivekananda.
