Dayananda Sagar University and Dayananda Sagar Institutions Humanities Council presented its first expert session on 13 Feb 2021 between 9:30 am and 11 am.

To many people, Mutual Funds seem complicated or intimidating. The session was arranged to simplify it for the unknowledgeable faculty and students at its very basic level. 

Dr Sathish P began the session stating the importance of financial planning through one’s lifes journey. Essentially, it helps one to be in control of one’s income, expenses and investments such that an individual can manage his/her money and achieve goals.

He continued the session with Investments and covered the following: why investment; some key concepts- inflation, interest, power of compounding, liquidity etc; asset allocation model; risk vs reward and different investment options.

 Dr Sathish then moved on to mutual funds and elaborated it with the concept; why mutual fund; different types of fund; systematic investment; tax benefits; transaction cost and hygiene factors. 

He ended the session stating and giving guidance on how to redeem investments; selecting a financial advisor; top 15 best equity fund schemes for 2021 and pitfalls to be avoided during investment.
