LEARNINGS FROM DAY 1-3

We started off with attending interviews to observe the areas we were lacking on. Mr. Ismail gave us a brief about the appropriate language to be used. We were made to work in groups out of our comfort zone to facilitate learning. We were asked to present the common fears faced by both the candidate attending interview and the recruiter which made us realize the scope of improvement and areas to work on.  This activity was mainly beneficial to kick off the stage fear we had. Mr. Ismail always wanted us to present on the stage though we were hesitant  ,but that step of his was very helpful to make us more confident while we are on the stage facing the crowd. By this at the end of the third day we were not scared anymore to speak up in front of the class.

He taught us that while we are in an interview it is just 7% of how your vocabulary and communication is whereas 93% is the body language and how presentable you are. We also had some fun activities that demonstrated team work and the ability to convince others about the solution you have for a given problem.

We also had discussions about various job roles and their responsibilities along with the skills that were required for the same. We were made to build our resume in the way required by the corporate and also discovered the best suited role for us by taking a personality test along with having a check on our field of interests. The session was interactive and engaging.

We were given to try out JAM sessions also (Just a minute) wherein we were given topics on spot and had to speak on it for a minute. For effectively talking regarding the same Mr. Ismail taught to frame a mind-map for the same. Also we were taught that the maximum vocabulary count (i.e the number of words spoken) in a minute shall not be more than 80-90 words.

We concluded this session with again taking up the interview to have a check on our improvement and this time we all were doing a lot better compared to the first day. We implemented all that was taught from day 1 and most of us were able to perform perfect as required by the corporate.

It was indeed a fun and interactive session as Mr. Ismail made sure he corrected every small mistake we were making and pushed us everyday to perform better. He also showed us some motivational videos and encouraged us a lot. The session was very helpful as we now know how to build our resume , how to tackle tough questions asked by the interviewer, how to build up confidence and a lot more things which will definitely make us ace our further interview with flying colors.

LEARNINGS FROM DAY 4 & 5

We started off with a fun game of introducing our friends and their future goals in the BFSI sector. Mr. Shriram gave us a brief about the classification of the banking sector and the various job opportunities along with an introduction to the money market and capital market. He later on explained us the various job roles and the actual working of the various departments in a banking sector. We were also taught about the various types of loans (i.e secured and unsecured) and the classification of those.

We also had a worksheet to do on the first day based on our understanding regarding the BFSI sector and their working before the session started off. Later on we discussed various roles and responsibilities of an investment banker, financial analyst, compliance officer, etc. Then came the discussion of mutual funds and the classification under the same. Mr. Shriram further went with the discussion regarding the derivative market where usually the securities are traded in lots along with a brief of the call option and the put option.

Lastly was our discussion on the NBFC (Non-Banking Financial Companies), their advantages, disadvantages, roles and responsibilities, etc. The same worksheet was given to us in the last wherein we were able to answer them with a detailed explanation and was more specific in answering them. We ended off with a feedback and various insights regarding the working of the corporate sector. The session was quite knowledgeable but it could have been more engaging as it felt boring at times.

DATE – 18th MAY - 24th MAY 2022

TRIANER NAME – PRAVEEN JADHAV

LEARNINGS FROM DAY 6 - 10

We started off with the basics of quantitative aptitude that would be useful for writing competitive exams like PGCET , KMAT and CAT. Not only quantitative aptitude is useful for us in competitive exams but also to get into higher studies in top colleges and the aptitude test conducted by companies for recruiting freshers.

TOPICS LEARNT -

  • Our first topic was selection and arrangement of numbers and digits along with seating arrangements. Mr. Praveen gave us problems to solve on the same along with identities and insisted us to learn all the tables from 1-20.
  • Secondly, he gave us a brief about the probability (i.e. tossing a coin, rolls a dice and marbles). We then solved problems on probability by which we understood the simplest way to solve them.
  • Then came the next topic coding and decoding. For this Mr. Praveen taught us a unique way to learn the key numbers of each letter from A-Z which was needed to solve the problems on coding and decoding.
  • Ratios were the trickiest was the mindset of ours at the beginning but the trainer facilitated us with the easiest way to solve them. Ratios basically are numerical comparison between two similar quantities.
  • We solved averages using formulas which had justifications for each of it. Averages along with arithmetic progression was made simple and easier to understand.
  • Next topic was the number system. We learnt a lot more about prime numbers, co – primes, rational, irrational, integers, decimal numbers, whole numbers, composite numbers , etc.
  • Blood relations was the fun part of the class as we had some humorous discussions while solving the problems.
  • Time and distance were made simple.
  • Percentages and fractions had formulas to learn and we had learnt to solve every problem in an easy way.
  • Lastly was simple interest and compound interest where we established a relationship between cost price and selling price and solved the problems. We also learnt semi-annually, quarterly, half annually, monthly, etc.

Basically, the trainer had his unique ways to teach us because we shall lack time in competitive exams, we were taught to solve fast. He made sure we focus on our basics. Also, the program could have been a little slow as we felt we were stuffed with a lot of information in our head in one day. By the program I’m sure all of us are sure about what we have to work on to pass our competitive exams and all the entrance exams with ease.

Trainer name: Megha

LEARNINGS

The session started with syllogism where 2 statements are provided followed by 2 conclusions. A logical solution should be derived.

An example is; that the figure represents a set of persons

  1. The triangle represents educated persons
  2. The rectangle represents policemen
  • The circle represents road taxpayers
  1. The ellipse represents shopkeepers

      Options:

  1. Policemen do not pay road tax
  2. Shopkeepers do not pay road tax
  3. Some shopkeepers are educated
  4. Some policemen are shopkeepers

Module 1: Number series

It covered filling the series of numbers, replacing the blank, identifying the wrong number in the given series, and insertion of the missing number in the grid. We solved about twenty questions under this concept.

Module 2: Letter series

This taught us to fill in the missing letter, complete the series logically, fill in the next letter, finding out the alternative adjacent letter in a specific series.

Module 3: Statements and conclusion

A statement is information or a fact related to any general subject.

This is a very important section under analytical reasoning where a passage or statement will be given followed by conclusions. There can be only one conclusion in a single argument.

Module 4: Statements and assumptions

  • As taught in the 3rd module, statements remain the same, and assumptions are the hidden or unsaid statements that a person assumes before stating a fact. The assumption is something that we take for granted. We had to identify the logical correct arguments for the questions given here. We covered about 15 questions
