Centre for Career Progression and IQAC of Dayananda Sagar Business Academy had organized a Digital Marketing Certificate Program in association with NICT Computer Education for final year BBA and B.Com students. The orientation program was held from 27th January to 1st February.


The training was conducted through the GoTo meeting application every day from 10am to 12pm and 2pm to 4pm. The trainers for the program were Mr. Supreeth Garla .Mr. Supreeth Garla, Director, NICT, Bangalore. He has more than 16 years of experience in Corporate Training. He is a Google Certified Trainer, Amazon E-Commerce Specialist and trained more than 4000 students. He is also a Social Media Specialist, SEO Specialist and Google Ad words certified trainer.

Day 1 (27th January 2022): Google My Business Account


The trainer, Mr. Supreet  started the class by explaining to us the digital marketing process. He taught us the procedure of creating a Google my business account; add details of the business such as logo, photos, videos, description, contact details, working hours, etc. He also explained the need to verify the account. He then taught us how to list out the products, add a CTA button and assign roles to manage the website. He explained to us how other businesses could also be added to the same email Id.

Day 2 (28th January 2022): Facebook Marketing


The trainer, Mr. Supreet Garla, continued the Facebook marketing lesson with the topic of the Facebook shop. He showed us how to list out Facebook offers, events and jobs. He taught us how to schedule posts and monitor the page performance using insights. He explained to us about organic and inorganic marketing. He then educated us about the Facebook ad structure, daily budget, lifetime budget, scheduling ads, detailed targeting and ad placements. He also told us how to create a group, page.

Day 3 (29th January 2022): You tube marketing and Google ads


The trainer, Mr. Supreeth Garla, briefed us about YouTube, its history, uses, advantages, statistics on the users, content creators, facts, its acquisition by Google and the reasons for using it as a promoting tool by businesses.  He then taught us the procedure of creating a YouTube channel, adding description, profile picture, cover picture and channel verification. He then taught us how to upload a video, adding a title, description, tags, thumbnail, watermark, cards, end screen, choosing a category, visibility, language, and scheduling it. He educated us about the conditions for customizing URLs and monetization. He also taught us about channel customization, managing videos, and deleting the channel.  He explained to us how to link a YouTube channel with a Facebook account/page to update a video posted on the channel to the linked account directly and concluded the session.


The trainer, Mr. Supreeth, briefed us about Google ads, their benefits and their ads structure. He explained to us about permission-based marketing and differentiated it from interruption marketing. He also told us the differences between Facebook and Google ads. He taught us the procedure of creating an account and adding the required details. He then explained to us about search ads and how to post them. He also taught us to schedule ads, target audiences based on location, language, demographics, budgeting and bidding. He explained to us the contents of an ad viz. URL, headlines, descriptions, path descriptions, extensions, structured snippet, etc. He stressed on choosing the appropriate keywords as it will help the businesses to reach out to their potential customers. Day 4 (30th January 2022):  Google Ads (contd)

The trainer, Mr. Supreeth, explained the other types of ads viz. display ads, shopping ads, retargeting ads and video ads. He explained in detail the types and creation of various kinds of display ads on websites, YouTube and Gmail. He then taught us about bidding, CPC, CPM, CPA and CPV. He taught us different ways to optimize ads which benefits the advertiser like scheduling, ad rotation, remarketing and frequency of campaigning. Later, he explained to us about targeting the audience with categories which included In-market, Affinity, demographic, keywords, topics, placements and remarketing. He explained to us about shopping ads in detail, the creation of the Google merchant site, linking it with the Google ads account and concluded the session.


Day 5 (1st February 2022): You tube ads,Linked in Master Class, Canava and Digital Marketing Exam

Mr.Supreeth have us a brief idea about how to create a you tube ad. He also explained us about various types of you tube ads and also enlightened us how it works and how much budget is required for a you tube ad.

Mr. Supreeth, started the class by questioning us the basics of LinkedIn. He briefed us about LinkedIn, its history, statistics on the users, acquisition by Microsoft, uses, advantages, building connections, etc. Then he taught us the right way of creating and building a good LinkedIn profile. He advised us to use our recent headshot as the profile picture, an appropriate cover image, headline describing us in a few lines, how to write a summary, add experience, volunteer experiences and causes, skills and expertise, education and additional info which gives a fair idea about us to a viewer. Then, he taught us how to customize our LinkedIn URL, add our contact details, certifications, making connections, etc. He also explained to us about recommendations and endorsing others’ skills. He taught us about the LinkedIn feed, the creation of various kinds of posts, customization of the news feed, privacy settings, and concluded the session.The trainer, Mr. Supreeth, started the class with the creation of a LinkedIn company page. He taught us how to customize the URL, update the details of the company, location, call to action button, etc. Then, he demonstrated how various kinds of posts like pictures, videos, text, polls can be posted and how to write articles.

Later we had a brief class  by Mr.Vijay on how to create a poster on Canva by using various techniques and designs for work purpose, projects and other activities.


Digital Marketing Exam was conducted online through Google form at 4pm.. 40 questions were given each of 2 marks, for which the students had 60 minutes to answer. The minimum mark required to clear the exam and earn a certificate was 40 marks.
