Presentation Skills Training Session

On the 18th Jan’19, II-year BCom Á section students had a training session on ‘Presentation Skills’ in Room 104 from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm.

This session was conducted by CIL [Centre for Innovation & Leadership] and trainer was Ms Latha Nahar, a freelance Trainer who believes that skill development is the only KEY to SUCCESS. Ms Latha Nahar is a Certified Learning & Development Professional, Certified Accenture GRF trainer, and has PGDBA (Marketing) from Symbiosis. Ms Nahar began the session by giving a brief introduction on presentation skills, its need and importance.

The first activity conducted was self-introduction which highlighted the strengths and weaknesses of the students. The trainer provided the knowledge and tactics that would help empower the students to communicate confidently and competently.

She further divided the class into three teams and the team members had to discuss and make a presentation on ‘presentation skills. The teams enjoyed this activity as they learnt the importance of team work while working together. The trainer ensured that after the presentation they mastered the critical verbal and non-verbal skills in a hands-on learning environment, and she also focussed on essential techniques for success, besides she told them the do’s and don’ts of presentation.

After the lunch break, in the first activity a situation was provided; wherein, the students had to exhibit their employability skills. Each of the team member put in their best in this activity.

The next activity was once again a group activity that entailed students to learn sales techniques. It was quite similar to product launch. They had to sell a product-a water bottle. Each team displayed their unique skill sets to stand out from the crowd during the activity. This experiential game in an enjoyable setting allowed them to interact and compete playfully. This made them learn more and all took pleasure in it.

The session ended with Ms Latha Nahar sharing her valuable professional tips on the topic. This guidance was helpful as the students gained from it and this can give each one a winning edge.
