SS Celebrates Rashtriya Ekta Diwas and Kannada Rajyotsava at G.H.P.S Thataguni

NSS volunteers of Dayananda Sagar Business Academy had organized the celebrations of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas and Kannada Rajyotsava on 23^rd October 2019 at Government Higher Primary school, Thataguni under the guidance of Prof Kasthuri Gopal, NSS Program Officer and Prof Rajani D K. 50 NSS volunteers participated in the event .        

The program commenced at 11 a.m. with a small introduction of the celebration. 

The chief guests for the event, Smt. Bhagyamma  D V, Principal, G.H.P.S, Thataguni; Dr. (Brig) Sandes, Principal, DSBA; Dr. Veena K N, Dean, DSBA; Prof. Nikitha Sreekantha, HOD, DSBA  and the program coordinators, Prof. Kasthuri Gopal, NSS Program Officer and Prof. Rajini D K were welcomed by the school students with roses. 

A lamp was lit to spread the divine grace and a floral tribute was paid to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and Bharatha Matha followed by a flag hoisting ceremony. NSS volunteers sang in chorus to seek the blessings of the god. 

Government school students Beema Shankar, Priyanka, Manjunath P performed solo skits of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Onake Obavva and Sangolli Rayanna. Then the government school girls gave a group performance of traditional folk dance Kolata, followed by a Janapada song performance by Kashinath, a 7^th Standard student.    

NSS volunteers presented a mime to spread awareness about non usage of plastics as well as keeping the environment clean.

Then there was a fancy dress show by the school students. They were looking breathtaking dressed as Lord Krishna, Radha, Kitturu Rani Chennamma, Rani Lakshmi Bai, BharathaMatha, Mahatma Gandhiji, Indira Gandhi  to name a few.   

Dr. (Brig) Sandes, Principal, DSBA,  handed over the certificates and prizes to the winners of the competitions conducted on 22^nd October 2019 and also gave gifts to the  students who took part in fancy dress show. He appreciated the talents of the school children and motivated them to learn new skills. He also advised them to make a new friend every day and learn new things from them. 

Dr. Veena K N explained the importance of celebrating Rashtriya Ekta Diwas and Kannada Rajyotsava. She also explained the children how each child is special. She appreciated the traditional Kolata and Janapada performance. She expressed gratitude to the school principal and teachers for cooperating with the NSS unit.

 Smt. Bhagyamma D V, Principal G.H.P.S, Thataguni, appreciated the efforts of the volunteers for organizing the event. She advised the students to reduce the usage of plastics and save the environment. She also encouraged the students to serve the nation in various ways and do good deeds by giving the example of Dr. (Brig) Sandes. 

 Prof. Nikitha Sreekantha, HOD, DSBA handed over a sapling to Smt. Bhagyamma D V as a token of gratitude. Vote of thanks was presented after which biscuits were distributed to the school students. The event ended at 2 pm.
