National Service Scheme (NSS) camp was organized by Dayananda Sagar Business Academy of Commerce , funded by Bangalore University during the period of 5thAugust to 9thAugust 2023 at Government School of Doddakalbalu.

NSS was established in 1969 with a vision of personality development of students through community service and well as development of rural areas in India.

We began our first day in our college and made all preparations to begin our journey .We prayed to lord Ganesha and started our journey to the government school.

THE OPENING CEREMONY

For inauguration program of special camp at Doddkallabalu village, we called renowned persons from that village and inauguration program started with flag hoisting and lighting of the lamps and welcoming of the guests. It was followed by introduction of the chief guests and their felicitation. The vision, mission and the main purpose of NSS camp was put forth by Prof.Rajini, Program Officer for NSS Unit of DSBA. The program proceeded with different speeches given by the guests present for the ceremony. The opening ceremony was concluded by recital of Vande Mataram.

As we all got to know about the program schedule of the event we all were segregated into groups that were,

TEAM-1 “GODAWARI”

TEAM-2 “BHADRA”

TEAM-3 “BHIMA”

Then we all headed towards the program arrangements .Team-1 was held with stage decoration and team -2 with food incharge. We prepared flower bokeh and arranged , decorated lamp for lighting. We also made preparations for 2ndday .

First we started our program with an rally bringing the awareness about the education,health ,and to stop alcholic products in the area and made successful event.

NSS volunteers continued their third day of the camp .The day asusually began with flag hoisting ,followed by National Anthem and NSS Anthem too.The in charges for the day were -

  • Stage decoration-Team 2
  • Food -Team 3
  • Cultural events -Team 3
  • We began the day with yoga and breakfast preparations were made by the Team 1 volunteers. Everyone returned to their duties after having there breakfast.
  • “Swach Bharat Abhiyan” is not just about cleaning our streets and surroundings, but it’s a movement towards a cleaner and healthier nation”.

So we cleaned the school and surroundings by spreading awareness of cleanliness to villagers .Later after lunch , we had a Personality Development Program , this was conducted by Prof Kamala ma’am also conducted some activities to the students and they were well participated and learnt listening and grasping skills.

After this Kamala ma’am and volunteers personally went to the villagers and gave information about Women’s Health awareness. The event went smoothly and successfully and then it was the time to have a tea break as team 3 were also preaparing for the cultural’s for the evening event that included skit ,song’s and dace.

The fourth day began as same as flag hoisting and national anthem. The in charges for the day were as follows:

Cultural events - Team 2

Later, all the students exercised while the volunteers of team 1 made preparations for the breakfast. After having their breakfast, everyone got back to their responsibilities.

It was a big day ahead as we had organised Blood Donation Camp and Free Health check-up. The volunteers were divided into small groups and assigned different tasks for the smooth flow of the program. The main event began at 10 am. The blood donation camp and health check-up program was conducted by Dr. Sowmya TJ and team from Sparsha Hospital. Our principal Dr. Veena ma’am along with Prof. Sanjeev sir and Prof. Vinod sir accompanied us and joinedthe event.

The program was successful and ended by 1:30 pm. The camp received positive feedback from the participants and the local community. It also provided a platform for the volunteers to interact and share their perspectives. It was noted during the interactions that it would have

been more beneficial if the patients/ participants of health check-up program were provided with the medicines in their prescription. Later after lunch, we had Mr. Anand Raj and Mr. Shivakumar who joined us and planted a sapling. They shared their words of wisdom with us.

Later that day, team 2 organised cultural events. Unfortunately, there was a little inconvenience due to power cut. However, the volunteers didn’t fail to entertain the crowd. Further, after having delicious dinner we had small camp fire.

The NSS camp at Doddakalbalu was successful is providing a platform for young people to engage

in community service and social activities, while also promoting their personal and social development.
