Industrial Visit BAMUL

Bridging Classrooms to Cooperatives: MBA Students Visit BAMUL

On December 9, 2025, the Department of MBA, in association with the Bangalore Co-operative Milk Producers’ Societies Union Ltd. (BAMUL), organized an insightful industrial visit to the Nandini Milk Product Complex in Shivanahalli, Kanakapura.

This visit offered our students a front-row seat to the operations of one of Karnataka’s dairy giants, bridging the gap between management theory and large-scale agribusiness reality.

Key Highlights of the Visit

The immersion program covered the entire lifecycle of dairy production—from the rural farmer to the urban consumer’s doorstep.

Procurement & Quality Control: Students witnessed the rigorous testing and grading procedures that ensure only the highest quality milk enters the production line.

Advanced Processing: The session detailed the technical nuances of pasteurization, homogenization, and sterilization, showcasing how BAMUL maintains nutritional integrity at scale.

Uncompromising Hygiene: A standout feature was the facility’s “zero-contamination” protocol, utilizing high-pressure steam sterilization for tankers and packaging units.

The Product Portfolio: From daily essentials like Toned and Slim milk to UHT long-life products like Trupti and Goodlife, students explored how BAMUL diversifies its offerings to meet evolving market demands.

Sustainability and Farmer Empowerment

Beyond the machinery, the visit highlighted BAMUL’s core mission: Rural Empowerment. > “BAMUL isn’t just a dairy plant; it’s a lifeline for over 200,000 farmers. Seeing their veterinary support systems and training programs firsthand gave us a new perspective on social entrepreneurship.” — Student Participant

  • Supply Chain Management: Understanding the logistics of perishable goods.
  • Marketing Strategy: Analyzing how “Nandini” maintains a competitive edge through trust and diversification.
  • Cooperative Management: Learning the unique business model of a farmer-owned enterprise.
