Industrial Visit to Titan

A team of 30 second year MBA students accompanied by Prof. Pravesh Soti went on an industrial visit to Titan manufacturing plant at Hosur from the college campus by bus at 7:30 am on the 7th of November 2015. They reached the destination at 9 o clock

After the authorities issued entry tag to the students and briefed them about the dos and don’ts to be kept in mind while they were inside the unit, the entire lot was divided into 2 groups. The two groups moved in two different directions and they were led by a guide to help them understand manufacturing process of watches.

The guide told the students about the origin of Titan. The success story began in 1984 with a joint venture between Tata group and Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Cooperation. Titan transformed the Indian watch market when it reached out to youngsters by designing the ‘Fastrack’ watches. It next targeted the Indian jewellery market under the brand name ‘Tanishq’ and made its foray into the eyewear market as Titan Eye+ with a wide range vintage and stylish collection of frames and sunglasses.

A thought kept ringing in the minds of the students on their return - of the great visionaries in the business field, who are full of imagination and creativity and leave behind footprints in the sands of time to inspire coming generations .The educational trip enriched and taught the students to be an envelope pusher, and to learn to dream like the stalwart futurists, see it out there on the horizon, and then have the courage and faith to fearlessly pursue it and ensure each of the dreams they envision become reality. This visit proved to be a rare opportunity for a business school student to experience the accumulation of tradition and perfection.

By 2:30 pm the students were back in the college campus .The visit was truly memorable.
