All India Essay Writing Event at DSBA

The All India Essay writing Event is the flagship event of the partnership between the United Nations Information Centre for India and Bhutan [UNIC], Shri Ram Chandra Mission [SRCM] and The Heartfulness Education Trust for development of program content for the youth. They invited undergraduate students to participate in the essay writing event 2018.          The event was conducted by the Literary Club ‘The Urban Reader’ at DSBA on the 10^th of August at 10:30 am in G-05. The event was coordinated by the Literary Club co-ordinator Prof Meera Krishnan and the student coordinator Ms B S Sharvani [III Year BCom]. Large number of undergraduates from all three programs BCom, BBA and BCA enthusiastically took part in the event! The topic was a quote by Rabindranath Tagore-                “A mind all logic is like a knife all blade. It makes the hand bleed that uses it”. Word limit given was 750 words and the students had to adhere to the do’s and don’ts of the competition!   The students could contemplate on the following points:

•        What is the nature of the mind?
•        Are all the views we create from our mind is true?
•        Why is the mind compared with the knife?
•        Why is all logical mind compared to a blade?
•        What is logical thinking?
•        Can the mind allow you to love unconditionally?
•        Does your mind bring positive results always?
•        We being logical, is it a self-destructive?
•        Is there a way out of not being logical & yet succeeding in all endeavours?

  The purpose of writing the essay was to ignite the thoughts of the students on such topics for development of human values and character building. This will further help lead a happy and purposeful life.
