Teacher's Day celebrated with gusto by DSBA Students

Those who educate children well are more to be honoured than they who produce them; for these only gave them life, those the art of living

5th September -Teacher’s Day- a day dedicated to mark the birthday of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan – second President of India was celebrated by DSBA students with great enthusiasm. Students expressed gratitude, respect and love for the teachers by putting up a well-rehearsed programme. They handcrafted an invite for the programme and distributed them to the teaching and non-teaching faculty. The venue was decorated with flower petals streamers and balloons.

The programme commenced at 2:30 pm. The teachers were welcomed with roses at the venue which was on the IV floor of the college premises. Dr [Brig] Sandes, Principal- DSBA; Dr Veena K N, Dean-DSBA, Prof Nikitha Sreekantha, HOD-DSBA led the team of faculty to the hall. The emcees -Ms Pavana D and Ms Sharvani B S [III Year BCom]- gave a welcome address on behalf of the DSBA students. They appreciated all the teachers for their hard work, dedication and commitment.  

The Dean and HOD lit the lamp to mark the auspicious beginning. A short cultural programme was organized by the students. Ms Rakshitha and Ms Kruthika [I year BCom] sang a welcome song invoking Lord Ganesha. A cake cutting ceremony followed; wherein, all the faculty came together to cut a huge cake. Meghana [II Year BCA] and Ms Debolina [II Year BCom] danced to a foot tapping song. There was a solo dance by Mr Darshan [II Year BCom]. Ms Farheen [I year BCom] sang a melodious song.

Fun games were conducted for the staff. The first one was ‘Biscuit challenge’. The game was won by Prof Crissy Mathew. Second was ‘Musical Chairs’. Ms Yashaswini was the winner of the game. The third game was ‘Blindfold’. This game was contested by the Principal, Dean and HOD only. Dr Sandes won the game hands down! The last was Musical Antakshari. This was a group event between faculty. At the end of the round both the teams were evenly placed.

Students had arranged splendid snacks which was served during the programme. The highlight of the event was; however, the lovely gift –framed photograph of the faculty adeptly taken during the day and painstakingly organized within a short time which genuinely was a token of student’s love for the teachers. Faculty was clearly mesmerised by this loving gesture by the students!

Prof Nikitha thanked the students on behalf of the teaching and non-teaching staff. The efforts of the students were appreciated by one and all present at the gathering.
