Ayudha Puja Celebrated with Fanfare and Religious Fervour

Ayudha Puja is traditionally done on the ninth day of the Navaratri Festival. Customarily, implements used for livelihood are worshipped on this day, a symbolic affair reminding man of Supreme Divine grace.

 

Ayudha Puja was celebrated on 17th October 2018 at 10 am at the DSBA Departmental Library. Dr [ Brig] Sandes-Principal, DSBA; Dr Veena K N -Dean, DSBA; Prof Nikitha Sreekantha-HOD, Faculty, Administrative Staff, Students were present on this joyous occasion. The students made a beautiful Rangoli at the entrance of the Management block as well as the puja location.

                             

The venue for the puja was festooned with plantain and mango leaves and the photograph of the God was decorated with flowers. The tools and all implement of vocation were first cleaned. They were smeared with turmeric, sandal wood paste and Kumkum by Ms. Sandhya and Ms Rajeshwari. On the pedestal, Mr Naveen and Mr Lokesh placed books, scissors and other objects of use in the college for worship.

Dr Shantha Shaivalini lit the lamps. Prof.Harikrishna made an offering of fruits, sweets and flowers to the deity while Dr Shaivalini chanted hymns and mantras. He lit the incense sticks, rang the brass bell and performed aarthi. Later, the holy water and prasad was offered to all present.

To get rid of all evils, soon after the puja rituals, an ash gourd [decorated with vermillion and turmeric] and a coconut was smashed at the college entrance.

Before the staff dispersed, on behalf of the college management, Mr Lokesh distributed sweets. The Principal and the Dean wished everyone for Dussehra festival.
