Oracle Certification Program

On 16th Jan 2019, an orientation program was conducted for II-and III-year BCA students regarding Oracle Certification. Prof Anoop and Prof Girish, faculty from DSATM (Engineering) were the instructors. Both of them introduced the Oracle course and took us into the mesmerising computer world. They informed us about the various opportunities available in IT field and taught us the basics of languages like C, C++, JAVA. The introduction class was interesting and BCA students of DSBA were lucky to avail such an opportunity to do the Oracle Certification Program.

Oracle professional certifications are offered through Oracle University, which means one can demonstrate their database and Java knowledge and skills with a distinction that is recognized by IT professionals and industries. They are professional certifications, certifying candidates on skills and knowledge related to Oracle products and technologies and achieving them requires study, practice, and preparation. Credentials are granted based on a combination of passing exams, training and performance-based assignments, depending on the level of certification. Oracle certifications are tangible benchmarks of experience and expertise that help an individual to stand out in a crowd among employers. Being able to show what one knows and can do, helps differentiate one from the competition—whether preparing for college, applying to a graduate program, or competing for a job, internship or promotion.

On the first day of the certification program, we were taught basics of Java - a name of a programming language created by Sun Microsystems. This company was bought out by Oracle Corporation, which continues to keep it up to date. The latest version is Java SE 11, which came out September 25, 2018. We were also taught the concepts, objectives, Java platform. Java runs on many different operating systems, including Android, the world's most popular mobile operating system. On day two, our knowledge on Java went deeper. Third day onwards, we started working on systems. We started executing our program, debugging it and actually understood the meaning of programming. It was a fun learning process, as we were creating our own program. We also learnt to make shortcuts.

We were given modules in the form of PDF.We were told to read them and at the end of it, each and every module was explained in depth.

Doing a classroom course like the one we did, has increased the chances of passing the certification exam. All of us have indeed benefitted from the program as we are now aware that earning an Oracle Certification empowers us with the latest product-specific knowledge and skills to compete in the rapidly changing world of technology.
