Outbound-Life Skills Training for II Sem BCA Section Students

“Add life to your days, not days to your life”

On March 18, at 10 am, we, the II Sem BCA students left the college premises for the Outbound -Life skills Training to Eagles Unbound, Kanakapura Road. We were accompanied by Prof Yeshaswini and Prof Solomon. All had come prepared for the two-day trip. The moment we reached our destination, we looked around, we got excited and looked forward to this adventurous outing.

Coming to Eagles Unbound, this camp is run by ex-army officials. Their mission is to promote love for adventure, the outdoor life and the environment while discovering the self, and developing into a confident and a well-rounded personality.

The outbound training began with an address by Brig Amardeep Singh, President- Eagles Unbound who welcomed us and told us about the camp, safety precautions and the restrictions. Then we had breakfast after which we started the day with the team building activities. We all were divided into two groups consisting of four teams each.

The group was led to the training area for the first activity which was quite difficult. The team members had to carry an elongated pillow called ‘snake’ and we together had to cross the obstacles and ensure the ‘snake’ did not touch the ground. This task made us active and tested physical & mental toughness of each student in the group, determination & courage, team spirit and self-confidence, cooperation and sense of responsibility of the group. We hydrated ourselves with lime juice and water.

Then we came to the all favourite activity and that was archery and shooting. Here, we learnt a lot of skill lessons such as dexterity, accuracy, focus, improving and setting goals which will be helpful in shaping us to become a balanced personality.

The instructors and the trainers at the venue were kind hearted, enthusiastic and motivated us constantly to challenge ourselves. We had never seen such lot of spirited people till that day. They unleashed a wave of energy throughout which kept us inspired!

The arena was filled with plenty of activities that almost anyone and everyone could take up. We participated in all activities, that included Wall Climbing, High Rope Courses, Zip-lining, Archery and Shooting.

At night, we were taught to pitch our own tent and we realized that it is a very easy process. We enjoyed ourselves next to the campfire clutching hot soup in our hands. We had a great time under the moonlit sky. The next day, the team activities continued till evening. The food served to us on both the days was very delicious and everyone loved it.

It was one of a kind outing which is going to be cherished by us certainly for a long time!
