On 9 July 2019, I year BCA students were given an ‘Orientation on the BCA Certification Programs’ in Room 105 from 10 am to 12 pm.
The trainer of the session was Prof Anoop G L. He has completed BE, M Tech and is pursuing PhD. He is currently working in Dayananda Sagar Academy of Technology and Management [DSATM]. He has published papers in international journals, national and international conferences, won best paper award, participated in workshops and faculty programs. His academic activity includes Oracle Java SE6/7/8 Course Training. His area of interest lies in Digital Image Processing & Pattern Recognition.
Prof Anoop started the session by stating the difference between CS and Computer Applications, and giving explanation with examples about the programs.
One of the purposes of Java Oracle Certification is to help candidates crack interviews and narrow down the interviewees because of the benefit of the specialization. To complete the course certification, 40-hour classes are conducted. If one does the global certification, there are greater numbers of opportunities available and one can easily attend interviews abroad. He motivated the students by stating that global certification will be provided after October with a gift voucher of 25% which will be valid for six months. For completion of the certification, minimum 75% attendance is required.
Further, he got down to the nitty –gritty of Java as a programming language and a platform. He gave the following details about Java: Platform is an execution of, lot of programs simultaneously. Java Virtual Mission is a platform that allows one to execute Java Program and applications. First name of Java is Oak and the purpose of Java is web applications. Programming is the strongest for system applications and system application is downloading files of program to system and running the program. Web applications is sending request to a server from system application. He mentioned with the following example- request login page of facebook through web browsers. Mobile application is a combination of system and web applications; Java is most secure language for Data. Android is core of OS from Java and IOS- Core of OS from C-Program. Java is flexible with human interaction and hence becomes easier.
The first year BCA students were quite enamored with his insightful talk as it helped prepare them for their academic expectations, available resources and courses.
