Field Trip to Garuda PolyFlex Foods Pvt. Ltd.

The final year students had been for a field trip to Garuda PolyFlex Foods Pvt. Ltd., Jigani Link Road, Bommasandra, Anekal Taluk. 52 V Semester BCom students were accompanied by Mr. Abhilash, Lab Assistant on 9^th October 2019 and 53 BBA and BCA students were accompanied by Prof Crissy Mathew, Prof Punya and Prof Meera Krishnan on 10^th October 2019.

The students and the faculty set out from the college at 10 am and reached the factory site at 11 am. After completing the formalities at the reception desk, students were taken inside the factory to watch the manufacturing process of Gone Mad Wafer sticks. Cap, shoe cover and mask were provided to every visitor to ensure hygiene within the premises.

Mr. Saravanan, Quality Executive was very forthcoming and answered all queries raised by the students and explained the entire process in detail leaving no room for doubts! 

To begin with, students saw the ingredients that are used in making the wafer sticks, next they were taken to the juicer that ensures the ingredients get mixed in right proportions, then the ball mill which blends the batter. The next stage is when the batter moves to the holding tanks that holds and stores about 2 tons of batter. Here, the students saw all the three flavours of the batter –chocolate, coffee and almond. The next phase is the baking and crème filling process. The ready wafer stick is cooled and packed .Students were also taken to the quality control section. At the packing conveyor belt, all the rejected pieces were kept aside as they would go through the entire manufacturing process again. 

At the end of the visit, Gone Mad Chocosticks were given to the faculty and students to relish! After tasting them, the students and faculty darted to the factory outlet and bought a wide variety of Gone Mad items.

The amazing immersive hands-on learning experience will certainly go a long way in shaping the student’s future.
