Objective: To understand the growth and success of CCD among the retail chain; to recognize that CCD does not work on the franchise model.
Learning Outcome: The visit helped the students realize how cafe coffee chain made a revolutionary change in the Indian coffee drinking culture, the success story of Indias largest Cafe Coffee chain and CCD works only on partnership entity.
Students visit Cafe Coffee Day outlet often to enjoy one of their popular beverages.
But on 6th Feb 2019, the visit was one of a kind! Not to drink coffee but to understand the nitty gritty of its functioning, how in the Greatest Coffee Shop Battle of India, CCD still emerges a strong contender!
Mr.Abhishek-CCD store Manager was kind enough to share all the details with the students who came up with number of queries. After a brief introduction of himself, Mr. Abhishek spoke at length about the stores functioning right from the start of the day to the end, advantage of the stores location, customer behaviour and preferences, challenges faced by CCD and how it overcomes challenges;,retail strategy, marketing and advertising strategies, promotion schemes, the history, CCDs success story, change in the coffee drinking culture leading to a wide range of outlets of CCD in Bangalore and creation of the largest coffee empire of India!
Further, Mr. Abhishek also informed the students that people looking to take advantage of the brands established name and start a franchise, should know that CCD does not work on the franchise model. It works on partnership- it offers to partner with those that own a commercial or commercially converted retail space on a rental/revenue sharing basis.
Prof Meera Krishnan thanked Mr. Abhishek and handed a token of appreciation for permitting and wholeheartedly answering the unceasing number of questions.
