Interactive Session on Swami Vivekananda

‘Arise, awake and stop not till the goal is reached’     Swami Vivekananda

On the occasion of Swami Vivekananda’s birthday also celebrated as National Youth Day on Jan 12, ‘The Urban Reader’ Literary Club –DSBA in association with Disha belatedly honoured the spiritual guide and his incredible life on Jan 22, 2020 between 2:30 pm and 4 pm at the IV floor seminar hall. The session was coordinated by Prof Meera Krishnan- Literary Club Coordinator and Prof Prakasha-Club Faculty member.Dr Veena K N, Dean; Prof Nikitha Sreekantha-HOD, faculty, final year BCom, BBA and BCA students; second year and first year BCA students attended the session. The emcee was Ms Sarah C H from I year BCA. She introduced the facilitator and welcomed the gathering.

Ms Meera Balganesan, the facilitator is a Math and Computer graduate and has over 13 years of industry experience. She lived in the USA for 9 years where she worked for Delta Airlines. She moved to India and has worked for many companies including Standard Chartered .She is a certified soft skills trainer and has been training since 2015.

She has conducted trainings for many corporate companies and colleges like Reva, Saptigiri and New Horizon College.

Currently, she is a full time coordinator at DISHA.                       

She started the session by speaking about the leaders of yesteryears and recalled the principles followed by them. She discussed the ideals and facets of Swami Vivekananda who worked for the betterment of the society and to date is remembered for the work he did and Ms Balganesan termed that as actual success as Swami Vivekananda has made a mark for himself.

She gave a brief introduction of Disha, its aims and focuses and mentioned that youth must enhance pride in the country’s culture and heritage.

Ms Balganesan continued her talk by sharing several interesting anecdotes about the legendary man-Swami Vivekananda and his life; his success mantras for youth, and said that his quotes are relevant to this day and he is surely a role model to the modern Indians, youth, aged alike. 

Dr Veena K N thanked Ms Meera Balganesan and reiterated that Swami Vivekananda firmly believed in being connected to one’s roots and exhorted the youth to be patriotic and take pride in their roots.Ms Sharon from I year BCA proposed the vote of thanks .Dr Veena K N and Prof Nikitha Sreekantha presented a token of appreciation to Ms Meera Balganesan.

There can’t be a better tribute to the great Swami than following in his footsteps and acting on his words.
