NSS Conducts PCOS Awareness Session for Girls

 

On 6th Feb 2020, NSS wing of DSBA conducted a session on PCOS Awareness and other menstrual health issues from 2:30 pm to 4 pm at the IV Floor Seminar Hall exclusively for girls. The session was coordinated by Prof Kasthuri Gopal and Prof Rajini D K , NSS Program Officers Girls from I Year, II Year and III Year BBA, BCA and BCom along with all women faculty attended the session.

Ms Anushri from III Year BCom introduced Dr Madhuri Patil, the resource person for the session.Dr. Madhuri Patil is MD, DFP, DGO, FCPS, FICOG (Mumbai); a Clinical Director, Dr. Patil Fertility and Endoscopy Clinic, Bangalore; Editor-in-Chief, Journal of Human Reproductive Sciences; Associate Editor, The Onco Fertility Journal; Founder President, Karnataka Chapter of Indian Society for Assisted Reproduction; Vice-President and Founder Member, Fertility Preservation Society (India) and Scientific Coordinator and Founder Member, PCOS Society (India)

Prof Nikitha Sreekantha, HOD welcomed Dr Madhuri Patil by gifting her plant.

Dr Madhuri started the session with an introduction to PCOS followed by what is PCOS, what causes it, what are the first signs, common symptoms, how it affects the body, how it is diagnosed, pregnancy and PCOS, diet and lifestyle tips to treat PCOS, common medical treatments, when to see a doctor, the bottom line and the FAQs.

Many girls and faculty raised key issues regarding various prevalent menstrual problems and Dr Patil gave her advice, suggestions and tips to minimalize the issues. 

Ms Anushri proposed a vote of thanks and Prof Nikitha thanked Dr Madhuri Patil and presented a token of appreciation.
