On 10th July 2021, our college organised a virtual orientation for BBA 1st year students. The topic of the orientation was NGOs. Dr Maria Pramila who is a financial freedom coach and Founder of Wealth2life addressed us and briefed us on the topic. She has 13 years of experience in Financial services and is also very passionate about training in the corporate industry. She explained to us in detail about NGOs and their purpose.

It was a very interactive and informative session, she further went on to tell us about the contributions made by NGOs during the pandemic and how it benefitted so many who were out of jobs and were barely surviving. NGOs promote the interests of the poor, and help provide them with basic social services and needs. We learnt about the history of NGOs that tracks back to the 1800s, which was the first phase out of the eight phases in the history. We learnt new facts and interesting details such as the different names of the NGOs (Voluntary organisation, Non-Government Development Organisation etc)

We were informed about the characteristics and functioning of the NGOs. This session helped us as students, gain a lot of knowledge in regard to NGOs and their real purpose, how they were formed, what social services they do and how they help people in time of need. I for one didnt have complete knowledge about NGOs and their work, but after this thorough session by Dr Pramila, it changed my viewpoint and helped me gain insight about what really NGOs are. The orientation concluded on the note that NGO’s are really important in todays world and each one of us could do our part in whichever way possible and learn more when the chance arises.

Glimpses of the orientation are captured below:
