 A good human resource manager develops and manages her companys culture. She recruits new hires, maintains benefits and payroll, mediates conflict and engages in training and development. Her role is at the core of a companys success. 

Dr. Suneeta Bhat was the speaker of the day. She is a passionate Human Resource professional with full time MBA in HR and has 12 years of experience in leadership position encompassing the full spectrum of human resource function. She is currently working as SHRM - SCP, XLRI, Human Resource XLRI Jamshedpur Manipal Health Enterprises Pvt. Ltd 

The session began with introducing the speaker by Prof.Sanjeev,after which our Principal Dr. Brig Sandes and Dean Dr Veena KN spoke a few words regards to how students must utilize the session and get benefitted from this and understand how a HR would make a difference in an organization. After which the speaker spoke about her career path, experience and present working situation. She started the presentation about the role of a HR by explaining about  

The Dave Ulrich HR Model it is meant specifically to organize human resources functions, which was developed by David Ulrich.

Then she spoke about the different challenges that are faced by every firm presently like, rapid changes taking place, Workforce Diversity, Globalization, Technology Explosion, Evolving Work and Family Roles and Skills Storages.

Then there was a video played, which contained information about The Future Of HR. It also stated that this profession helps in building the future and shaping tomorrows workforce. It also stated that they are into 4th Industrial Revolution. Even though customers satisfaction is the main target, but the firms should focus more on employees as they are the assets of a firm.

Further she gave us an in-depth knowledge about HR Technical Competencies. It consists People, Organization and Workplace. Under People section she spoke about how strategic planning depends upon stage of maturity of a company, how acquisition of Talent is important, building rapport among the workers and maintenance of relationship, Nurturing the talents and enable them to create a better future then at last about the rewards given to motivate and appreciate the work done.

Under Organization she spoke about structure of HR function, effectiveness, workforce management and employee and labour relationship. Workforce explains about HR in the Global context, diversity, risk management, labour laws and regulations and corporate and social responsibility. Later she spoke about the power of dressing. As its always said that First impression is always a lasting impression. she also added that style of clothing and hair makes the individual seem or look authoritative and it also builds confidence. Attitude and Behaviour were also explained, wherein she stated that HR should always hire one who has positive attitude as it will help in building up companys image rather than spoiling it with negativity. As a positive person remains hopeful and sees best even in difficult situations. Professional Behaviour in turn improves the productivity and effectiveness in the workplace. Then there was a video regarding how communication is essential function and mainly in an organization it helps in productivity and smooth operations. It also builds relationship, trust and commitment. Then she spoke about theory to practice where she said that how they both complement each other and one should always have an understanding of them. We should always apply our learning as it serves as a user guide. At last, she concluded by explaining about Design Thinking which one can adopt
