Disha Bharat is an NGO working in the field of value education since 2005. Various activity-based workshops are conducted for students, faculty, and parents on the theme “Know Yourself, Know Your Country, Know Your Culture”. In the last 16 years, Disha Bharat has reached over 4 lakh students through  its workshops.

Our NSS Program Officer, Prof. Rajani D K briefed us about the program and talked about of 75th year of Indian Independence. She also spoke about the Vichara Kalarava series conducted by the NSS wing of Bangalore University. Miss. Spoorthy H G, NSS volunteer of B.Com 3rd year, introduced the speaker Sri Siddarth Pai.

Sri Siddarth Pai is a technocrat having experience in pursuing startup and entrepreneurship. He has an M.Tech from the prestigious Manipal Institute of Technology in Computer Science and Engineering. He had received Rs. 600,000 grant from Karnataka govt when he was pursuing his undergrad at NMAMIT, Nitte at the age of 21. He had working experience in MNCs like Infosys, Tech Mahindra and General Electric. He has won many business plan competitions across India such as Manthan-2015 by Federation of Karnataka chamber of commerce and industries, defi 2017 by TA Pai management Institute winning Rs 50,000 in each. He also won second place in the 24th chrono entrepreneurship challenge organized by French Embassy in India.

Siddharth has deep interest in research, and he has published an international paper at the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. He has a wide interest in public policy, foreign policy and economics and keeps himself updated with the latest trends in Startups and technology domain. Also represented India-ASEAN youth summit organized by Ministry of External affairs And Govt of Assam. He is a thought leader, and he is very active on social media and the Prime Minister of India Sri Narendra Modi follows Siddharth on twitter. He is also followed by 150 members of parliament 2 Chief ministers, 22 Union ministers, Many CEOs like Intel, SAP, Cisco, Accenture, and 500+ IAS officers. 

The speaker Sri Siddarth Pai, gave us the definition of our county mention in Vedas, our ancient scripture. He talked about pre-Vedic times, Indus valley civilization – one of the oldest civilizations, trade and commerce of India, trade routes, export of spices in exchange of precious metals, Indian metallurgy and explained to us how the country was Atmanirbhar (self-reliant) 5000 years ago. He also listed and briefed us about foreign invasions, the battles we won and the dynasties which ruled us. He spoke about the wealth of our country and its exploitation by various invaders. He cited the example of the Kohinoor diamond and explained to us how it became a part of the British crown. He explained to us about the freedom struggle in detail and told us some lesser-known information that has never been a part of our history textbooks. Then he educated us about the political integration of our country, how over 565 princely states became one country, India’s partition, the issue of Kashmir providence etc. Then he educated us about our country after independence, the top brands of India, how to see value in innovation, the formula of value in terms of idea, development and exogenous. 

The speaker also talked about industries researching and developing indigenous technology, industrial processes, how the younger generation can contribute to the economy, government policies that assist new entrepreneurs. He then spoke about brain drain, automation, satellite communications, its efficiency, etc. 

Miss. Anusha B S, NSS volunteer of B.Com 3rd year, concluded the program by thanking the speaker, Sri Siddarth Pai and Disha Bharat for organizing the program. NSS volunteers of DSBA are grateful to our NSS Program Officer, Prof. Rajani D K and the management of DSBA for organizing the program from which we learnt about our countrys history, freedom movement and many unknown facts.
